SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!! That's kind of niiiice. (Jamal is most jealous, I know he is! He's prolly creaming his jeans right now!)
Let's see some of your work, John!
Jamal asked me if he could get one just a few weeks ago.
I said, "Sure...we don't need a car or a bigger place, go for it."
AND PONY!!! Your Wacom is nice. It's bigger than Jamal's! :p ;)

Sorry Jamal, it's genetics.
If you can't afford a Cintiq, and can live with a smaller work area, a Tablet PC isn't a bad option. I've used an older HP TC1100, and it was pretty nice for the price. (They run $500-700 used) The main limitation is that they can only run Windows (unless you spring for a ModBook, and in that case why not buy a Cintiq?) so Mac users can't just install their copies of Photoshop or Painter. Paint Shop Pro is a decent alternative in that case.
Adesso is introducing a 17" tablet/display similar to the Cintiq for "only" $1700. I don't know how it compares in quality to the Cintiqs, though, so even if I had the money I wouldn't buy one without taking it for a test-run or at least finding a credible review of it.
Your Wacom is nice. It's bigger than Jamal's! :p ;)Size doesn't matter. It's what you do with it that counts. (That's especially true of drawing tablets.)
