I had to laugh when they asked him if he would think of it as "extreme".

I think most people know my views on Liefeld's work, but I have to admit that I love his enthusiaim for comics. I've heard that interview before and a few others with him, and the guy exudes this energy when he talks about comics that I enjoy. He still can't draw and swipes, but he sounds like he would be a good guy to work for or with. This is one of the reasons that I think he gets work, despite his lagging skills as an artist.

I do enjoy listening to him speak on the subject, but you can get that same passion and drive from both Marc Silvestry and Todd McFarlane.

I agree he would be someone to work FOR..... if only he could hold a publishing brand stable. If you go on youtube and check out his video diaries, you can actually watch him tracing and lightboxing both his own work and others' as part of his "creative process".

After several daries, you really kinda' listen to what he's saying about so many things and even (I couldn't help it) sympathise and respect the guy...... right up until you see him tracing. So sad.

But all the lightboxing and extra steps kind of explain why he's always late. All the extra steps.

Now,if only Greg Land would do the same for us.

I thought that as well. He does do a lot of extra steps in his process. This might be because of his ability or skill level. He suffers from doing too much from comics-related references, and I doubt he ever draws from life. This would help him grow as an artist if he was willing to put the work in.

I actually interviewed Ron Marz a while ago and he went into detail as to how Greg Land does his artwork. And why he has no problem with it.

What a fucking prick that guy is. "He doesn't use photoshop, he lightboxes." What a monstrously unintelligent thing to say. I've never been so disgusted listening to an interview in my life. Don't buy books of creators you don't like? Good idea, Ron. I'll start with yours.

Yeah, I agree. I wanted to put in "and that's why I don't buy Greg Land comics." but I thought better of it, since Ron seemed fairly defensive and was being nice to let me interview him.

Yeah, I figured you had to be polite. And he was defensive. I need to pay my bills this month, I wonder if he thinks it's okay if I steal from people to pay those bills. Because that's all Land does and he's okay with that. Ugh. What a dick.
