Kep!

Hit me folks...give me your best, worst, whatever. I need a king that's worth a damn and not going to crush me.

I kid you not, I lost my bed in the last move. Shoot me.

Go with memory foam...it was invented by NASA!

Well, I don't know about brands, but be sure to make them show you the box springs you're buying; they often don't have these out on display at the showroom, they just bring it when they deliver the mattress. The supposed box springs that came with my mattress, which I paid about $200 for on top of the price of the mattress itself, turned out to have no springs at all; it was just a frame of 1X2's with a piece of masonite stapled to the top, all wrapped in fabric.

I'm still kind of pissed off about it.

I can give you my mattress for a house or food, maybe even a car.
I'm willing to dance, rap or draw to cover the rest of the expense.

Uh...Kep? I can understand losing things in a move. Really, I can. I'm sure we're all guilty of it to some degree, but....A KING BED? How the hell do you misplace THAT?!

Kep!

I'm hip. I have that with my last one. Odd, eh? I'm definately investigating that fourther this time.

Pillow-top are the most comfortable to me. That's a type of mattress and not a brand.

Should we discuss the changing prices of canned goods?

I have one of those, sort of. Mine has a memory foam top, then a layer of normal foam, then springs in pockets. It's the best bed I've ever had.

Kep! just get a room filled entirely with pillows, all of them with leopard pattern. Then take the money you would have spent on the mattress and pipe in Barry White 24/7.

Win-win!

Luckily, I check out chat when I'm sick (I have the flu it seems).

Here are some more Amazon links. And yes, the problem with some products with reviews, there are so many it can take a day to go through them all:

Whatever happened to the days when you just went down to a bedding store, laid your ass down on the beds in the showroom, then after an hour walked up to the salesman, pointed at a bed and said, "I want that"?

I hear ya, another store I've heard good things about is Bob's, and they seem to be cheaper (unless you wait for one of the sales Sleepys, etc, has). Kep, you can also check the Yellow Pages to see if one is nearby:

http://www.mybobs.com/default.asp

I can't give you a direct link now (appears to be down), but they have good prices on mattresses.

Best Bed EVER! (http://www.tempurpedic.com/sleep_systems/the_celebritybed_by_tempur_pedic/)

That's the one we got last year. I thought "$4K for a freakin' bed?", but it's worth every penny. :) Figure about $1 per day for the next 10 years. There's just some things you should spend money on and a bed, in my opinion, is one of them.

Again, I am of the 30 something crowd, so it's only recently that I can appreciate a really nice bed. Back in the day, I could be just fine on just about anything, but I'll never go back - never! lol

You know...I like these...but I have to admit, the lack of return of force makes me wonder about extra-curricular activities (screwing for you folks without a sensitive ear)...seems it would inhibit. But you dig it, eh? Hmmm...I'll look into it again.

Buy a trampoline! What? You've never had said activities on the floor, counter, or couch? No return force. It's good exercise, and you'll have to work with your partner on the return force thing. :P
