Goddamn, this book is getting better and better. This Juan Jose Ryp guy is amazing! Where the hell did he come from? He's a lot like Geof Darrow. Some of the scenes in this issue are fucking amazing!
And no one writes this type of material better than Warren Ellis.
Awesome.

Ooooh, Doktor Sleepless was pretty cool too. So far it seems a bit like Ellis's Mek series, but that's only after 1 issue.

I didn't get into Doktor Sleepless too much, but I'm really enjoying Black Summer.

It's Warren Ellis, so you know it's good. Plus, the subject matter...love it, love it, love it. And the comic rocked...the characters and namely their abilities were interesting.

Has anyone read the one with the big ol' Barbarian on the cover? I was going to buy it but bought Sleepless instead.

It's called Wolfskin, and no, I haven't read it. I read somewhere that Ellis wrote it on a dare, so I don't know if I'm all that interested.

I actually picked up issues 2 and 3, just out of curiosity. The story is about a Conan-esque barbarian--though Ellis' version is more culturally evolved and strategic thinking than I believe Conan was. Anyway, this barbarian comes from an old clan that wear wolfskin over themselves and are rumored to turn into werewolves and become fierce fighters, drawing from the old historical legends and myths of tribes who wore wolfskins.
What I found interesting, or different about it was that the main character has some major conflicts with going into this drug-induced berzerker rage and sending souls to the God, whom makes a creepy appearence in issue 3, his tribe worships.
I think it's worth it to pick up, but pick up at lest two issues. The only downside, for me, was the use of very modern cuss words.

Has Ellis written [something*] that didn't include someone with a drug addiction?
I wasn't talking about the drug addiction as being the different/interesting part, I didnt even say the character was addicted to it, 'cause he's not. What I was talking about was the fact that he genuinely seemed to dislike tearing people apart, which I think is atypical for
such a character. I'm looking forward to more issues.
