Best news ever. Virtua Fighter 5 with no onlne = pass. VF5 with online = instant buy for me!
And all those kids defending the PS3 version saying that it would be impossible for Virtua Fighter 5 to have online because the gameplay is far too complicated. HAHA. Man that was so annoying. It's funny now that they are proven wrong.
I own both systems and I'm glad I held out for the 360 version of this game. I don't get any enjoyment out of playing computer controlled players in a fighting game.

Yeah, have fun playing that game with the lag.

never had any lag in Dead or Alive 4 online. I don't see why people say this game will be so much different and be plagued by horrible lag. I'm sure there are other reasons why PS3 didn't get online and the 360 did.

DoA is a far less complex fighter than VF5. VF5 is built around frame advantages and just frame animations. You can't do that with lag. It'll revert the game to DoA's level.

You know what they say, "game experience may change during online play."

Sometimes you get lag... sometimes you don't. Hasn't stopped millions from playing online.

It's not something that gives you too much grief in a FPS, the movements are so broad, in a fighter like VF5 you have time things so well if there's just one blip you've lost any chance you have of that dodge or block.
The PS3 version is getting an update to do it too, so they too can experience the frustration that will no doubt come.

really? Where you hear that. Any link to PS3 version getting online?
My thinking is, why do you people care tho. If you don't wanna play it online...don't. Its not gonna hurt you to have the option on there unless they have to suffer singleplayer content to put it there. And obviously they didn't because they primarily made it a singleplayer game first and then when they saw what a massive mistake they made by not putting online, they are attempting to fix it.

online play should be fine for most. lag has to do with the internet connection's in the room.
xbox live has a system that can tell you what host's have the best connection and which have the worst. atleast they do in gears of war and nba 2k7.
so VF5 should do just fine.

ive noticed that. Every game that I've played online for PS3 just autojoins and doesn't let you select a server manually. 360 allows you to. I use to be all for the Playstation, PS2 being my favorite system, but Xbox has pretty much won me over for now. I'll probably stop holding out for the PS3 versions of games and just get the 360 versions which are usually released first and are usually better in general.

As long as the character customization options don't cost as much as Tekken 5, I'll be happy. It doesn't take much. :whistlin:

boomp
a demo of Virtua Fighter 5 is on Xbox Live. It has 4 characters available as well as singleplayer and MULTIPLAYER! Guess they are confident enough to release a demo of the multiplayer to showcase.

meh... downloaded the demo. don't see the hype.
i haven't played VF since dreamcast. but with this one VF5 it just seems like DOA with slightly better graphics... and not nearly as fun... think i'll just wait for DOA5....

oh lame, i read on some site that it had playable online. Welp I already know what the singleplayer is like and it didn't convince me to buy it unless it had online, which the PS3 didn't.

no it has online... but they don't let you click on it in the demo, it's a disabled option.

ya thats what I meant :p
I know the 360 has online. I'll probably go rent it when it comes out.
But I the site that posted that a demo of it came out stated that the demo let you play online. Which is false :(

VF5 was already an old game when it came out for PS3.

well if thats the case then they'll probably release one. like with splintercell... first the multiplayer online demo for double agent came out. and then like 2 months later the single player demo was released. i'll keep a eye out for ya.

it came out and is getting good reviews...better than the PS3 version. Apparently it looks a bit better, has more moves, and online.
The reviews I've read say the online is pretty basic but it is lag-free. Which is good. Tho, I rarely had lag playing online in DOA4.
Anyone got it? Another game I wanna buy amonst sooo many that are coming out ...grr.

Dawg! Part of the reason why Dead or Alive 4 wasn't that great online was because of the LAG!!
Experienced it first hand. Many of times when I tried to review it. NOT one of the best fighting games to go online for the 360.
I just have to wait, and see how Virtua Fighter 5 plays online for the 360. It'll lose a little visual detail from the PS3, but it "should" make up for that with online play. Again, just have to wait, and see.

actually, according to the reviews...it looks better than the PS3 version. It is based off of version C of the arcade and PS3 is version B. No clue what that means but apparently it suppose to look better and have more moves.
Guess I'll have to pass on getting this game...too many good looking games are coming out in November. Crysis, CoD4, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Kane and Lynch, etc.

Which review says that this game looks better than the PS3 version?
I've seen this game PLAYED! It has NOTHING on the PS3 version. Unless some M$ is saying some bull$hit like that, I don't believe that crap.
Can you provide a link to this information?

various reviews I've read
heres a snippet from the IGN review.
"Virtua Fighter 5 comes to 360 with a variety of updates from the PS3 version. Already a fine-looking game on PS3, VF5 looks even better on 360. On Microsoft's monster machine, you get clean lines, excellent lighting, and some great environmental effects (such as mist rolling through the arena). VF5 Online offers the Arcade Version C edition, an update from the Version B used on PS3."
Gamespot review also mentions it but says the small details are "too much to go into for this review". Whatever that means....
Gamespot has always seemed a little Xbox favoring to me tho. Dunno bout IGN. But then agian, I've started favoring the Xbox over the PS3 as well...guess that is what happens when you see one system is actually better than the other...for now anyway. Well not that the system itself is better but that the quality/quanity of games is.

Dawg! I don't trust what IGN has to say on ANYTHING that has to deal with ports, and such. If you look at their reviews, you see that some of them catered to M$. Virtua Fighter 5 for the 360 does not look better than the PS3 version.
Don't read alot of Gamespot reviews. Don't know alot about them, but I've heard that they aren't good at all when it comes to video game reviews.
And the ONLY reason why it's an arcade port is because the arcade version had online. Thats what the 360 has gained. Whoop-dee-do!! :sure:

well personally the only reason I didn't buy VF5 for the PS3 is because it lacked online. Nothing more to it.

Your call man. And I'll admit that it was a jack move for VF5 for the PS3 not having online, but I think you should give a second chance. That game is still a great have for your PS3 library.

Again, your call.....
But given the fact that there are a slew of great games out there, and even more coming out in the future, one can't just pass it up. You're getting a great deal out of $399.99.
