I've just finished this and I was a little disappointed considering some of the reviews that it received. It's TR 'back to basics' so if you like the basic puzzle solving, running around a tomb part of the game then you will like it - think TR 1 but with better graphics. Personally, I prefer the mix of locations, scenarios, enemies, weapons & vehicles that came with, say, TR Legend. TR Anniversary gets very repetitive very quickly IMO.

I've never liked the Tomb Raider series, shitty controls and a crappy gameplay.

Yeah...I've got to admit that the control setup in this one can be unpredictable and, combined with some of the camera views that screw up the controls it can be more than a tad frustrating.

I tried tomb raider once when the first one came out and again for the third. Let me tell you, nothing is more exciting in a game then to run around for 3 hours, fight a bear and finish the game. Sarcasm, thine are my friend.

It's pretty much a mod of Tomb Raider Legend with Tomb Raider levels. I like the controls and gameplay from TR Legend that this game adopted, and Lara's character is given more humility. For example in the first scene she tried to help her guide when he's attacked by wolves and showed remorse when she failed. In the original game she's a cold hard bitch.

By the way, was the grapple hook present in the first game? I don't recall any, of course I never played the original TR for more than a minute because the controls back then suck so hard. I blazed through TR: Anniversary with ease, though.

I had the original Tomb Raider for my Sega Saturn. No, there was no grappling hook.

I was the master of running in circles though :har: (yes, the controls took some getting used to)

The first Tomb Raider was AWESOME when it came out---It was the reason I bought a Playstation (That and Tekken 2)---

If you thought that exploring 3-d environments (new at the time -remember Mario 64?)- Great Swimming action - And a T-rex attack (One of the best moments in video game history!) was cool then- You will enjoy this new game----It's got all the nostalgia combined with the modern controls and additions (grappling hook- Swinging from poles, etc) ---St. Francis' Folly anyone?

If you don't have fond memories of the first game--- this game is OK ---Very much like LEGEND....I think the controls are good- I don't see why all the complaints.

Legend was way different to the rest, the controls were easier, she was less vulnerable, more believable and you could jump right in.
The other games require perserverence and patience, so it's understandable they wouldn't be for everyone.
