Just been trolling the web looking for some responses to the DWP FCBD contribution.
Here are two comments.

Far more interesting to me was a short from a series called Zombie Highway that provides everything you need to stimulate a prospective new audience. It introduces its characters (including telling you their NAMES -- sometimes the basic are nice), it communicates its simple premise without belabored exposition (there're these zombies, and they gotta DIE), its main character experiences matters of considerable emotional weight, it evokes underlying themes of generation gaps and difference in beliefs, it contains at least one actual surprise, and it ends with a sense of true closure. The clear, crisp artwork is effective and pleasing to the eye. Also, there are gruesome zombie deaths. In just four succinct pages, this managed to be my favorite work of all of FCBD. (The Phil Jimenez car crash was a close second.)

Digital Webbing's issue, for example, contained five shorts that captured the essence of their respective titles respectively; in just a few action-packed pages, we gleam that BloodRayne is a vampire-hunter, that the Fist of Justice is a superhero spoof about how crazy capes-'n-tights adventures really are, that E-Man is an alien embodiment of pure energy fighting the good fight on Earth, that Zombie Highway is a poignant, character-driven piece about a world overrun by the undead (again), and that Punks is a surreal sociopolitical commentary via digitally montage imagery. Whew. Though these concise descriptions cannot do their subjects' justice, they prove that it was just that easy to get a grasp on Digital Webbings' canon. I don't know much about DW's origins, but I believe I've heard them billed as a credible source of creative networking, so, based on this issue, I'm willing to find out.

It was a nice change from hearing "another Walking Dead wannabe!" Heh.
