I kinda didn't know that he could draw so well, I mean, wow...

He was one of the biggest advocates of drawing from life and THEN turn it into your own. He has made some of the most memorable covers in comics.

Todd needs to start drawing again. New Avengers need an artist. ;)

That's not Todds first work.

His first work was a backup story in Coyote.

I was always blown away by Todd's work on Incredible Hulk. At the time he started it was so different than anything I personally had ever seen and I loved it to the point that I followed him to Spiderman and beyond.

Part of the reason I dropped Spawn so many years ago was due to the fact that Todd decided to run his company instead of drawing. I recall an interview from a loooooong time ago where Todd said he had a skectchbook full of characters and superheroes he had created and if Spawn failed, he'd go back to that sketchbook for more and try again. Spawn was a success and we never did get to see anything else. I'll alwaye be curious about what other ideas he may have had.

Now in Wizard Todd says he's back at the drawing board working on a couple of things for the future. I hope he does pick up and run on another book. I'd try it just for old times sake.

I really like the way he inked that Kirby piece- it's completely successful in updating Kirby's style a bit.

If I had that kinda artistic talent, I don't see how anything could keep from the drawing board, constantly drawing badass shit and marveling at my own ability.

That's the enigma to me. Why did he want to stop producing work? You couldn't keep me away from drawing comics if I could draw like that!

now that was interesting stuff. i love being able to hear artists thoughts on thier work. how they put it together and what it meant to them and what they were thinking at the time. todds a great artist and seeing all that stuff in black and white, all the memories brought back of those cool books he did.. man.. i wish he would draw some more. GOOD stuff i say...good stuff.

well, whether that's true or not, steve, mcfarlane didn't quit drawing over money, he made millions just off drawing comics. he stopped drawing comics when he became more involved in his business. he branched out and did a lot of things and the grind of putting out a regular book wasn't where he was at.

mcfarlane was great. page to page, panel by panel it looks really shaky now, but it still holds up when he's on. he delivered some great shots over the years! i'd be interested to see what he could do if he came back and illustrated a few books...it'd be interesting to see but kind of sad if it proved to be a case of the emperor's new clothes.
