I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to make this sound FX in Illustrator 10. More in importantly how do I get the OO to intersect?

Type your text out. Use the selection tool to select the text. Create Outlines on your text. Ungroup your text.

Now, move and manipulate your text as you need. Make your O's bigger/smaller, overlap them. To make that OO effect where they overlap you have to select just the O's and choose to Merge them. Once you've finished your moving and manipulations you can select all the letters again and re-group them. Then apply a group effect if you like.
