Press Release:
AFTER THE CAPE
Shadowline Presents a Hero's Fall from Grace

How far can even a superhero fall?

Ethan Falls was the man who had everything: family, fame, success and super powers. More than just a costume, his cape was a proud symbol of everything he had become. Now, a crippling addiction has taken that and everything else away from him and he's spiraling out of control, towards a life of crime. Shadowline proudly presents Howard Wong and Marco Rudy's gripping tale of addiction and temptation in AFTER THE CAPE, a three-issue miniseries debuting this March from Image Comics.

"AFTER THE CAPE is a very personal story about the cost of success," explains writer Howard Wong. "Ethan Falls is faced with the temptations of taking the wrong road, and Marco and I are enjoying using the superhero tradition to tell a story about the harsh consequences we all could face, and how one man, who should be impervious to such dangers, succumbs to them."

"Marco's art is simply amazing," says Shadowline's Jim Valentino. "His high contrast film noir style is infused with painstakingly observed realism. There's an underlying optimism and sincerity to Marco's work. The artwork hits you right in the gut with the tragedy that Ethan's life has become."

A powerful mix of superhero action and real world drama, AFTER THE CAPE delivers an arresting vision of an extraordinary man pushed to the breaking point.

AFTER THE CAPE #1 (of 3) carries a cover price of $2.99 ships March 14 and is available through Diamond Previews (JAN071921).

AFTER THE CAPE COMPLETES THE SELL-OUT HAT TRICK!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AFTER THE CAPE #3 sells-out! Collected edition and sequel announced!

BERKELEY, CA -- 16 May, 2007 -- The third straight issue of Shadowline's dark superhero miniseries, AFTER THE CAPE has sold out. After selling out of the entire series, a collected edition of AFTER THE CAPE is being hurried to press to meet demand. It will hit stands this September.

The same week that Shadowline's AFTER THE CAPE marked it's third straight sell-out, the series has also gotten the attention of Entertainment Weekly.

"For Fans of the neorealism of Powers' Brian Michael Bendis," says Entertainment Weekly's Jeff Jensen.

In response to all of the buzz and acclaim, Shadowline is also announcing that a sequel is already in the works.

"We are hard at work honing the plot points on AFTER THE CAPE II and should have an announcement shortly." says Shadowline President Jim Valentino.

AFTER THE CAPE, tells the story of Ethan Falls, a man who had everything: family, fame, success, and super powers. The cape wasn't just a costume but a proud symbol of what he had become. Now a crippling addiction has taken it and everything else away from him, and he's spiraling towards a life of crime.

The collected edition of AFTER THE CAPE will be available in the July issue of Diamond Previews for products shipping in September.

I have never just this service so if anyone can comment please do so. Thanks! It's a great way to get comics cheap... but there is a flat shipping rate based on how much $$$ value you buy in that order. The minimal shipping rate on an order up to $50 US is $5.95... so if you're only ordering a few books, the shipping can wipe out most of the savings. BUt, if you order lots, you can save big time.

But, as a Canadian, we're getting hosed on the shipping. They just informed me that USPS took away the cheapest way to ship to Canada so now the are going Priority. My last shipment was $25.70 US for shipping! :yuk:

you can find info here: http://www.comicspace.com/shadowline/

It's Jim Valentino's imprint. You will work with him and Kris Simon (editor). I don't have a book with Image Central, so I can't comment on a personal experience.

I suggest Elizabeth or Amanda. Whatever you do don't give her a hippy name like sunflower or anything weird she will hate you. Actually forget Amanda because your last names Wong. A Man duh Wong, that could be a problem.
