Hey all,
I just read SOULDRIVER over at DrunkDuck. A lot of you will probably recognize jgiar from the boards.
Anyway, I know he's been lurking around here for awhile and busting his butt on this book. I was very impressed. It's a solid read right out of the early Vertigo Days.

I wouldn't call Jim a lurker. :)
But, yes, everyone should check it out.

Just for the record I DO NOT lurk....maybe prowl..troll..skip. I like to think of it as "guerilla posting".

So where can we buy this book?
The first book, Of Mist and Smoke, won't be available till next year. If I can keep the pace going that I'm currently working at and I can build my audience. I'm also considering putting some form of color to it for print, and I'm having Splash play with one of the panels to see if it's even something I'll consider. That's in the air for now... But you can read it for free right now at DrunkDuck... :) ...my god I've become a pimp. :D There are three books in all. And I've started writing book two.

NNOOOOOoooooo!!! Not the cat!! ...Had to catch up on a few pages, been too busy to read lately. Damn, this story is not for kids! Story pacing is great Jim, not even time to get a second cup of coffee. But please, please be kind to the cats?!? Awesome book. More! MORE!
The fly was a great touch.... and it's ok if it's wings get ripped off...

I read the first issue on your comicspace page.
I love the gritty 80's feel to it. Like TJ said, very early Vertigo. As for colour, I'm not sure what it would add to the book. I think it looks awesome in BW, and it seems to fit the mood very well. But, then again, I'm no authority on the subject.
I'm really looking forward to reading more.

Just for the record I don't condone the abuse or torture of animals...humans are a whole different story..(I kid...relax.) The cat execution was kind of a cheap shot on my part. I wanted to show just how insane and brutal Dr. Koch is. What better way than to twist the neck of a small fury, cute creature. The cat reference I used was actually from a vets site where they were administering medication to the cat..(except for the whole neck twisting part.) Trust me there's another cat coming that is the complete opposite of defenseless...And no SoulDriver IS NOT FOR KIDS!!!! (Consider that my public service announcement.) Although my 6 year old daughter likes to look over my shoulder and spell the swear words out loud. Her mother loves me! :har:
