Tonight's episode:

Kate is the flashback charcter, and they'll be examining "The Monster" this episode as well.

PLOT:
After discovering that one of her own has betrayed her to “The Others,” Kate is left to fend for herself in the jungle with Juliet. Meanwhile, Hurley warns Sawyer to change his selfish ways and make amends with his fellow survivors or he may face a vote of banishment.

decent episode. A lot of cons going on (Juliet is now working an angle, I imagine).

The monster... how can we explain that on a show that is otherwise "based 99% on real world science?"

All these characters knowing each other or other people in common with one another before they got to the island? This HAS to be playing out via multiple personalities in someone's head. And Hugo is the only one that truly fits the bill. There's no other way to explain it all without saying that time travel and smoke monsters are part of reality.

When the "monster" appeared to Juliette and Kate I first thought it was taking pictures of them when it was flashing... Then I thought it may have been confused with Juliette's presence and was flashing between the way Locke saw it, and the way the other Losties see it.

I have some great theories on the next two episodes, but I am going to wait, because I am most likely wrong. :p

I think they saw the smoke the same. I think Locke is the only one that has seen it "white".

I think each character is a color.
For example:
Locke - White
Kate - Black
Sawyer - Black
Jack - White
Hurely - White

And so on.

Thinking into the theories, there is also the numbers...

One hundred [and] eight is an abundant number and a semiperfect number. It is a tetranacci number.

Huh... You got me thinking so I downloaded an audio extractor, then I recorded the sound, then I reversed it, figured out how to get the correct DLL file so I could convert it to an MP3 file, and I uploaded it to my FTP...Here's what I got....

Persphone (arguable the name of the face as it is in the URL) is the daughter of Demeter and the wife of Hades...she spends 6 months in hell a year and six months above ground. while she's in hell, Demeter freezes the earth (winter).

ok, that said, the numbers struck me as statistical...no idea what, but statistical nonetheless. They also resemble (though I can't verify it) a protein chain...which seems like an odd but possible thing for LOST to do.

Im not sure how much i like the idea of stuff outside the actual show informing the truth about the story. Seems liek mega crossovers....ALL i want to read is Civil War....not all the tie ins lol

What would irk me the most is that the creators said the numbers are meaningless, yet they'll probably latch onto a few of the fan ideas and claim it's supposed to have been that way all along.

Kep, I too thought the same thing about Locke's father on the other Lost thread. The whole "I'm a con man" line during Locke's episode a few weeks back sealed the deal for me.

The numbers are meaningless, you are correct. Meaningless in the real world, but significant on the show. They're just numbers they picked, most likely at random... Except 23.....

This is why Lost is so boneheaded.

I watch every episode, and they release something as informative as this....on the internet ? LOL. If they had had cool info like this in actual episodes alot more people would still be watching.

...the more I think about it the more im pissed lol.

Something like reavling the origin of the Numbers is a big deal....they are all over the show, and they go and give real information on some online 'experience" ...is this something that everyone watching the show is wondering about ?

My parents who just watch the show are week in and week out always ready to stop watching and always site the Numbers as one of those annoying plot points that is hanging out there....

Well Jason, here's a theory of mine.

This website here http://www.retrieversoftruth.com (Which has been taken down), was about the experiments done by the foundation on yellow labador retriever's psychic abilities.
I don't think Walt had any special powers at all. I think it was Vincent, and that's why they let Walt and Michael leave.

Vincent ran away which led to Shannon seeing Walt in the jungle. Vincent also pulled the tarp off of the paralyzed duo - maybe he knew they weren't dead? The real question here is where was Vincent when they first crashed? Is he working for the Others, along with the cat and the horse? Why isn't he around every episode? And what the hell happened to the VW bus they found?

My question is will everybody just move into the Others' village if they're gone now? Seems kind of stupid to stay on the beach, especially if they can surround themselves with a barrier against both the Others and the "monster". Plus there's got to be a lot of supplies just lying around in all the houses.

Here's my theory:

The submarine was a decoy, it never moves. Julliette was put in the sub so when she woke up she believed she came in the sub, and that is the only way off the island.

On the preview for next week's episode we hear a helicopter. A helicopter to my knowledge does not have enough fuel to fly from America to Australia. Perhaps it could if it was flying north... You know, from an artic listening post that Penny had set up to find Desmond. ;)

I don't know really. I assume there is something going on with the mothers on the island since we saw one die, and they were trying hard to get Clair.
But Rousseau counters that if she is indeed the mother of Alex and not some crazy lady that shoots people that she thinks have become infected with some unknown virus.

Nah, I've spoken with Damon and Kieran in New Zealand it it was day time there and here at the same time.
It may have been evening at Arcadia Park, and morning on the island.
