1) I always thought Peter's webbing dissolved after a certain amount of time (don't remember the exact amount), but he goes to retrieve the black costume which he stowed away on the side of some building (with webbing) "a long time ago".

2) Since when has Peter been able to stick to the side of buildings through only his sneakers?

Sorry in advance for the nitpicking. :whistlin:

Yeah, I'm not the type that cares about the webbing stuff--he can web somethin' up for a century for all I care. But I do care about my Amazing Spider-Man not being entertaining! Not good, not bad, just a pretty bland ride with climaxing with Spidey swearing to do somethin' we know he ain't gonna.

When he made the webbing in his bedroom using his chemestry set it lasted for about an hour... depending on how much of it he used.

Now that his body generates it like a real spider... I dont know.

1 - I guess a No Prize way of explaining that is that he visits the suit every now and then when he's feeling a little blue and rewebs it up.

2 - I remember in one of the old annuals, when explaining his powers, any part of his body can stick to walls (which MJ made an innuendo-type joke). So technically he was sticking to the wall by his butt.

When he stowed it there he probably used chemical webbing since it was "long ago" but he did know in advance he was going to be leaving it a long time. Likely since the one hour disolving time limit was a design feature he was probably able to circumvent it and create a batch of storage webbing that would last years.

Is JMS still writing Amazing?

For just a little bit longer. August, I believe. Barring any delays, of course.

I am, and I promise twice the twists as JMS! Aunt May. Captain America. Hogwarts. That's all I'm allowed to say.

Haha, and I can imagine a few issues from now there will be a scene with Luke Cage and Peter saying exactly that, and then break the fourth wall again with Peter saying "How's THAT for an explanation, True Believers?"

I can't get wait for JMS to clear off from Spidey. Perhaps now the damage can be slowly repaired.

He probably has a DTMS clause in his contract.

I know what JMS needs, a good kick up the backside for helping to ruin Spidey

Did you guys know that when JMS came aboard Spidey, hot off the success of Rising Stars and Midnight Nation, that he had one stipulation to his contract? That there would be no creative editing of his work. Copy editing, of course, but editorial interference to the plot or story, no.

That was announced in Wizard back in late 2000 when it was revealed JMS was coming to ASM. I've always wondered if that actually stuck. I mean, editors have always been listed in the credit boxes. Plus I never heard anything more about the unusual stipulation after that one blurb in Wizard.

The DTMS clause-- aka "Don't touch my shit".

If that's true, then that shows you why Spidey has gone downhill since then.

I can see it now: "JMS, do you think readers will buy into the "Aunt May is really Peter's biological father" twist?

Ha. Well, I can't technically say Spidey has gone downhill since JMS started, 'cause he succeeded the largest insult the title has ever been dealt. And that insult is named...Howard Mackie! Note that Mackie hasn't been given much (if any) work by Marvel after his departure from ASM. Gah! That relaunch was awful!

Unless, of course, Mackie became JMS' editor. That would be funny and ironic, for the DTMS clause would make sense.

JMS has done far more damage to Spider-Man than Mackie could ever dream to.

They should have let Jenkins and Buckingham take that title over. Those guys created some great, if few, Spider-Man stories around the time JMS took over.

How accurate are those reports regarding his "DTMS" clause in his contract?

Did Spidey ever wear a black costume that wasn't the symbiote? I don't remember anything but that doesn't mean it didn't happen... I'd still like to know though.

Anyone else think the return of the black suit is incredibly anti-climatic? He's been appearing in comics with it on, with no explanation as to where he got it and now it's just... from under a ledge. Underwhelming.

Awesomus Prime

He actually probably appeared in more issues with the non-symbiote black suit than he did with the symbiote black suit. He didn't fully abandon the black suit until shortly after Venom's first appearance which was WELL after he ditched the alien.

Woohoo!! I'm a coked out looney!! I actually liked what he did with ASM until Deodato jumped on and then the stories got goofy and Gwen got turned unto a whore and so on and so forth but once civil war started I thought it turned back around. I like that Spidey is gonna have to be darker now but that is just me. As for the shoes on the wall thing... suction cups.

Agreed. Mackie was bad, no doubt about it, but JMS is on a whole other plane of existance of bad.

he can stick through his spider boots why not tennis shoes?

and it's an hour that his webbing would stick around for

Wasn't Mackie 'Writer X' on The Brotherhood? If so, maybe JMS can be 'Writer Y' on some other ill-fated book.

he can stick through his spider boots why not tennis shoes?Because there's a difference between spandex and a 1-2 inch rubber sole. In the earlier comics, he would always remove his shoes before wallcrawling when not in costume.

yeah I remember that, but I think that it has something to do with his powers getting stronger....or who's drawing the comic
