I don't believe I'm saying this, but...

GEEKGASM!

This might be the first Spider-man flick I'll like. It can't be any slower than Spider-man 2, that's for sure.

This looks like it'll be as wonderful as the previous two Spidey films. I wouldn't expect any less from Sam Raimi.

So we are not going to see venom in this movie...or at least not much?

Or like ROTS where we saw darth for like 2 seconds?

that looks very nice. I didnt think spidey and venom would fight at all but it looks really good. Even when he couldnt pick up venom with his spider sense was tight. It's gonna make a KILLING.

Um, except in the scenes with Spidey and Venom... fighting?

Probably the final act. This movie will probably have tons of extended and cut scenes on the DVD.

I hope so. I know the Betamax version's gonna be missing a few things. ;)

So it's looking like this is the final Spiderman, eh? I hope it goes out with a bang. (and I don't mean just the pumpkin bombs!)

Actually it might not be. The principles will be gone, yet Sony wants another movie.

This is a cash making franchise, they could probably squeeze out another with a new cast.

I say it will have alot of DVD extras, because it has more story elements than X-men Last Stand. They will end up cutting a good portion of the movie. Probably starting with Gwen Stacy scenes.

I was reading somewhere that they where already working on 4.

Sony have hired David Koepp to come up with a script for Spidey 4. Whether Raimi and the original cast comes back is too early to tell.

I thought Raimi and Tobey already came out stating they were done after the third?

...And we also thought Emma Watson is off as Hermione.

All three said no to a 4th movie.

Yes, but people can change their minds...

Better off to explore new characters, I say.

I agree. Maguire wants to range out, I am sure he is tired of the grueling Spidey schedule.

I'm figuring him to be typecast for a bit now. It'll take some time to get away from the 'spiderman' thing for him.

Mwynn
03-27-2007, 10:12 PM
Well that and he needs to change his eating habits and stay in shape while filming.

I don't know about this. What's to be "typecast"? I mean, Peter Parker isn't a particularly 'stand out' character, and even Spider-man is a guy behind a mask, who at times was even CGI.

All Tobey has really shown was a little angst.

Paul Sanderson

Money talks though, and if Raimi himself were to come back, then I'd say it's at least a possibility that the others would too. It's certainly not impossible.

Maguire isn't typecast, so that's not a concern for him.

Maybe typecast isn't the right word... I'm not sure what the word would be... but I think that it'll take a small while for the people who choose the actors to think about him in a light other than 'the spiderman guy'. Yes, I'm aware of his other roles (well, some of them), but I think we're gonna see him take a break for three or four years... (yep... totally pulling a number out of my butt... but isn't most everything in Hollywood speculation?)

Mwynn

Typecast is the right word. He talked about getting more action oriented roles, because of Spiderman. The same thing happened with Reeves after Speed, he did not want to get back into shape for the sequel. I am sure he was offered a few of the action movies, that have come out since Spiderman. No real need for a break, he has pretty much avoided the grueling movies. Besides Spidey and Seabiscuit his other movies have not been physical roles.

Biofungus

You say that, but didn't he almost forego Spidey 2 because of the *physical* toll that "Seabiscuit" took on him? (his back, specifically)

Sony was going to replace him, because they thought he would not be ready. Which is why he probably tries to avoid physical roles.

he will go do small rules then he will win awards in i say 5 years...

Sony was willing to replace him with only *one* hit Spider-man movie under his belt. It sounds almost a sure bet they'd do a fourth movie, even w/o Tobey (and more easily, sans Raimi).

Mwynn
03-28-2007, 02:49 PM
He has two after Spidey so far.
# Tokyo Suckerpunch (2008) (announced) .... Billy Chaka
# Quiet Type (2007) (announced)

There is really no reason for him to go back into anymore physical movies.

Does anyone here ride horses? It's exhausting. I used to play polo professionally for the Madrid Conquistadors, and I understood Tobey's pain from Seabiscuit.

I also fought crime in NYC as a masked vigilante, so I know first hand it's not a smooth transition to make-- from the horse to the city rooftops!

I'm not talking Tobey post Spider-Man. I'm talking Spider-Man post Tobey. Evidence points to Sony being more than willing to continue with the franchise sans Raimi, Tobey, et al.

As for Tobey, even if he's been getting more action role offers, I don't see him as being so indelibly typecast (like say, Joe Pesci or Robert Deniro, for examples).

Yes and something I would not want to do daily or even weekly. Once a year works for me.

That was exactly my point. The comment was made that Seabiscuit was *not* a physical role. I was countering that comment.

I'm sure Sony will do their utmost to re-sign the original cast/crew for Spidey 4, and if they're unsuccessful, or partially unsuccessful, they may well decide to keep going with someone new. That's definitely possible.
