The latest instalment in Dante's adventures has joined the list of titles that will no longer be platform-exclusive to Sony's next-gen console, which launches in the UK on Friday. The news is in line with a growing trend--many companies that are choosing to go multiplatform rather than limit profits with a single-format game.
Previous titles to go multiplatform include Grand Theft Auto IV, Assassin's Creed, Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War, Fatal Inertia (all previously PS3-exclusive), and Saint's Row (previously billed as an Xbox 360-exclusive).
Capcom said in a statement that Devil May Cry 4 "will take advantage of each platform's hardware strengths." The company added that the move was made to "to help enhance profits."

There has to be a weird vibe at Sony right now. Sony's business practices have made them into the last generation's Nintendo. Pride'll kill you every time.

Devil May Cry was a huge exclusive title for Sony. Now I'll get to enjoy it on my 360 without having to shell out cash for a PS3 I don't really want anyways.

Exactly. With Sony loosing exclusives left and right, they're either going to have to pay through the roof to keep current ones, like Metal Gear (and charge 80 bucks for the game), or basically lower the price of the PS3 to be competitive with the Xbox, because if players can play the games they want on either system, guess which one they're going to? ;)

I wouldn't jump with the mgs on ps3 just yet...there's some stirring going on at Konami...

This was plenty more interesting when they said that RE4 was Gamecube only.
Won't be to long before Dead Rising and Lost Planet jump to the ps3.

Hideo Kojima could probably do anything he wants for any system, but he said in a previous interview that he needs the size of blu-ray to fit MG4. It won't fit on a standard DVD.

Except that RE4 was Gamecube only for the length of the contract that said it was Gamecube only. After that contract was up, it was free to go to any system.

If the main series of final fantasy jumps then I would officially not care to ever own another playstation. Square ditched Nintendo a while back because of Sony's hardware, it wouldn't surprise me to see them do the same now by going to X-box. I don't see them going to the wii though.

Guess it depends on how well Crystal Bearer does.

Could do a multi disc. Wouldn't be top choice though.

Not only that but a possibility of hd dvd disc games.
Doesn't matter how it gets done, the fine folks at Konami are looking at PS3 units sold vs. 360 and wii units...It's a buisness not to lose money. This is the stirrings going on which leads me to believe some of the developers are giving Sony an ultimatum on pricing.

That is not true. The reason to move the game was cited by Capcom.
However, on October 31, 2004, Capcom officially announced that Resident Evil 4 would come to the PlayStation 2 near the end of 2005, citing increased profit, changing market conditions, and increased consumer satisfaction as the key reasons (this, and that Capcom was equally pleased with the sole sales of Resident Evil Outbreak). Resident Evil (remake) and Resident Evil Zero will remain GameCube exclusives. Similar to the fans' outrage in 2001, some were angered that Capcom had remitted three years worth of exclusivity promises.
If there was such a contract, they would have ported the other games. They ported the one, that would make them the most money.

Good. Now here's your least favorite question in history: Source?
Oh, and how can they port the other games if the contract was only good for RE4?

You are aware that most, if not all, "exclusive" games work on a contract basis, right?

Never said they did not. You claimed the contract was for RE4 only. Do you have proof to back that up?

Blue Dragon could be jumping to the PS3. 3rd party exclusives will soon be a thing of the past.

That one, I doubt. That game is a franchise-builder. I think Microsoft would fight dirty to keep it exclusive. And it appears to be the only title the Asian market is taking seriously on the 360.
I think they learned their lesson with Rare, and now they'll just cut checks per game and creator, not purchase an entire studio to keep it so.

The team may release something for the PS3, but it doesn't mean Blue Dragon would go multi-platform.

There was a paid for exclusitivy right with the creator of blue dragon...if that was from a more reliable source I'd say he should expect a lawsuit.
