Who in the hell would pay money to see a film about that? I'd rather see Plastic Man then the boring life of Reed Richards.

You don't think it could be a movie version of the Roald Dahl book, 'Fantastic Mr. Fox', then?

I see where the mistake came from, but come onnnnn....

Hell, I'm more concerned regarding the news on the same link on Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip! It's a fucking great show (and no I'm no damn Sorkin snob - fuck Sportsnite!), and I'm surprised to hear that people would rather watch the hackjob Caruso delivers every week on CSI: Miami. WTF?

It is Fantastic Mr fox.

Well that clears that up. I figured the Fox was Fox studios.

Oscar winners George Clooney and Cate Blanchett are in talks to voice the lead characters in Wes Anderson's upcoming animated film THE FANTASTIC MR. FOX. The film is based on the classic Roald Dahl tale and follows a wily fox (Clooney) who uses his cunning to outwit three farmers out to have his head. Blanchett would voice the main farmer's wife.

Either way it's a must miss.

Why is Wes Anderson doing a children's movie?

Why the hell do all of Roald Dahl's characters become American? George Clooney? Christ's sake.

If you'd prefer, the Brits can start making the movies themselves for 10 bucks a piece on the BBC. :whistlin:

It shouldn't follow that because the US finances a movie, all bets are off as to the nationality of characters. It happens quite a bit, but if you look at Lord of the Rings, accents range from British to Kiwi to kinda neutral. Tolkein created a fictional universe, granted, but it was all inspired by his desire to create a British mythology similar to those of Norway, Greece et al. The Kiwi accents were usually apparent only because the actors were shooting for mid-Atlantic and occasionally fell short. It shoudn't require a change in accent to sell a film, just a decent job made of production.

This isn't specific to US movies. If (in some parallel dimension) the UK ever made a movie based on a US novel, but transplanted the characters, it would bug me just as much.

High Fidelity is the one exception I've seen, because it stayed very true to the characters and could have been set anywhere.
