I like the animated movie. I'm not sure the Hobbit will work as a "live" action movie.

I was thinking that too, but it was like 4 am when I read this, and I was too tired to post :p
Seriously, if they don't feel the need to conform this and squeeze it into say, a 2.5 hour time slot, I think it will work. The thing with LOTR, is that Peter Jackson knew what he could safely cut out from the books. A lot of directors and writers don't.
