So it turns out that Chloe is a meteor freak with a latent ability? How awesome is that?

For the first time in awhile, I actually didn't watch Smallville, but I was listening to it from the other room. I thought that person who could detect meteor freaks actually confused Chloe and Clark? You know, was actually detecting Clark, and since he's not actually a meteor freak, but his powers are somewhat related, the scanner either 'saw' some of it rubbed off on Chloe, or something to that effect? IOW, she's not really a meteor freak.

Who wants to bet lex is cloning all of them? Will we see chloe die and then suddenly pop up as a clone? Or the clone die and the real chloe show up? Bet ya it's heading in that direction.

Sweet! When does Ben Reilly show up?... Maybe it wasn't Lex at all... it was actually Norman Osborn plotting his revenge since day one!

Smallville is still on the air? Isn't he Superman, yet?
I thought it was amusing Clark was using almost all of his powers last night...like clockwork. Chuckle.

It wasn't that the dude mixed up Clark and Chloe, they made a point of showing that. Besides, the guy could detect meteorite infected people, if Clark was meteorite infected he'd die. No, I was thinking maybe he mixed them up too at first, but later Lana goes to the dude thinking he might have recognized Clark as a meteor freak since she's convinecd he is, but the dude is like "nope, most normal guy I know" and repeats that to Clark later on.
Having a few days to be a in a writing mood, and I figure this is an overdue plot device to get Chloe and Lois to finally merge.

I don't think Chloe is a meteor freak. I think it's exposure to Clark (not that she hasn't been exposed to plenty of meteors (with or w/o the freak) in the series for something to not have rubbed off on her).

If it was exposure to Clark.... than why didn't the guy recognize Clark as being a meteor freak?

Clark has no meteor in him. The guy could see meteor infected people. Therefore, Chloe has to have meteor infection. Lex is watching her closely now, so it's only obvious. And it's also obvious that this will eventually lead to her death. And that's obviously eventual to make way for Lois to fill her shoes as the reporter she someday becomes.
I liked the confrontation between Lana and Clark, but it upsets me to no end that now that she suspects it Clark is still tight-lipped. It makes sense because she's dating Lex now, but it still bugs me.

Five seasons in it no longer bugs me, it bores me. Time to move on, folks, nothing to see here.

Clark's powers are still related to the meteors in some way (since they both have similar/same "origins", etc), but the meteors themselves are like poisons to Clark, so he's obviously different enough to *not* register on the "meteorically influenced" chart. However, the comic has established that he does give off some type of radiation (that micro-thin energy shield thing that makes him nigh invulnerable) so it's not implausible to think that early on, some of that energy, which may have similar properties (but lacking the properties that the scanner dude can detect) to the meteor may not rub off on someone. 'S all I'm saying.

Man, that is stretching it. Chloe just has had too much exposure to Kryptonite...she was bound to be with all those "Freak" run ins. So does that mean Lois is full of Red Kryptonite then? Seeing how she's applied it to her lips....that's exposure there too.

The only way that Chloe could get anything from clark is if she was affected by his aura. Clarks/Supermans aura is basically what allows him to fly and or lift heavy things. But such a thing has never been doucmented in the comics that I know of. All characters have been exposed to GK enough to cause some kind of reaction. But the only real known side affect is physical damage from the radiation as Lex found out some time ago when he found out he was dying from that GK ring he always used to wear.
In my opinion that was more or less a fluke episode that they may or may not tie into the plot in a later episode. I used to think that the writers were more or less trying to stay with the story line from the comics but obviously that came to a screeching hault when Lana agreed to marry Lex. Its too difficult to see where they are leading the story anymore.

Is GK what Krypton was made of or is it radioactive material that naturally occured in the planet itself? Or was it perfectly safe there but here in the presence of the yellow sun it became radioactive causing Clark harm and obviously causing humans harm. Clark and his aura should not be GK tainted. That's why the blind kid could not see him. He's not GK irradiated and when he is, he becomes ill. I don't think it was a fluke show. I think it's leading up to Lana(who used to wear GK) dying, Lex trying to save her with some 31.5(?) style meds, and Lex mentally cracking and turning really dark. Clark and his secret will no longer be his focus.

It changes. I don't know that there was much of an explanation back in the day. Nebulous statements about 'specific radiation' and such. When Byrne did Man of Steel, Kryptonite was poisonous on the planet to Kryptonians. It was a new phenonemon that was actually part of the changes in the planet that destroyed it. I always liked that explanation...it actually made some sense.

Killer music, by the way!
You should make a comic book on "Fear No Robots".
Fear No Robots: 2500 Miles From Civilization
written in the crunchy style of the music...YEAH!

What I ment by fluke episode was that I didnt see how that will tie in later. Basically another "filler" episode as I am so used to seeing with this show. Seems like they give you a little taste at the real plot then you see a couple episodes of this garbage "fillers". Thats why a lot of my friends dont watch anymore. And their ratings are weak.
To my knowledge there hasnt been any explanation given. Whether the shattered pieces of Krypton was turned into Kryptonite during its destruction or if it was a natural element of their planet. But I must agree that it makes more sense that it was a natural element.
Just dont ask how so much found its way to earth. Thats a whole different argument.
I do believe that this season will end with a death/near death of either Chloe or Lana. Also, I think that this death will jog Clarks desire to become superman and end the series.
Does anyone know if they are doing another season?

Lana came off a lot more likeable than usual.
