View Full Version : I Hated This Movie

Everyone has a movie that they hated or in the very least found disappointing. Comic movies are no exception, there have been stinkers out there. But regarding movies in general, which ones did you just could not stand? Or which did you have hopes for but in the end found very disappointing?

The FIRST 'Matrix' movie was cool. If it would have just stopped there, everything would have been hunky dory. But then the sequels happened and everything got flushed down the crapper.
I don't think I HATE any movie, personally. I'll find something to enjoy about a film, even if it's just making fun of it or seeing how bad it can get. There's PLENTY of movies I'll never seek out or watch again.
But, to be fair and keep with the topic, I will say that the American 'Godzilla' movie is as close to hating something as I can get. If it was called anything BUT a Godzilla movie I might have been able to enjoy it as just another giant monster flick. But as it stands, it's a pile of shit as big as the pile of fish they used to lure him/her/it into a trap.

Like Mike, I rarely run across a movie I won't sit all the way through. I've sat through Gigli and Battlefield Earth in the same night.
The one movie I watched that made me want to kill myself was Alexander.
I got all the way through it.. It wasn't easy, but I did.
I'd rather sit through a Uwe Boll marathon than to ever have to sit through that movie again.

Gigli was not that bad of a movie. it wasn't great, mediocre at best. i think most people were just tired of the whole bennifer thing and directed that at the movie.
there are so many "my big fat greek blah, blah" that did so well and were just as cliched and unoriginal. for to get gigli singled out is unfair.

Man, right on with King Kong... That movie was torture. Way too long. I was into it until they left the island. And even then, that was pretty Jurrassic Park-esque.
The other one that's coming to mind right now is The Thin Red Line. It was a somewhat new apporach for a war movie, but it was just too slow, too poetic, and too boring.
Napolean Dynamite was hilarious and warm. I'm always suprised when I hear that somebody hated it. Of course not everyone's going to like it, but I think part of the problem is all the hype it gets... sort of waters down the experience with higher expectations.

Normally, If I can't stand a movie I chalk the "one-off" experience as being "one of those things" and move on. I watched this thing twice (once in a legit theater the other time upon renting it on dvd) and couldn't believe how dissappointing this thing was. For some reason (and yeah, I realize the tv show wasn't the pinnacle realism as far as police procedurals are concerned) I really, REALLY, can't stand this movie.

You usually end up hating a movie that you don't care for, that you are then subjected to repeatedly. So, by that definition, I'm limited. I'd say Top Gun and The Breakfast Club come closest. In fact, I don't really care for John Hughes in general outside of Ferris Bueller.
I'd also like to say, that although I like the movie itself, I hate the line, "I love the smell of napalm in the morning." I feel like punching people in the throat when they quote this line.

AND POINTLESS REMAKES OR REHASHED (same story) SEQUELS.
Saw 2 and 3, why? Did they add to the first film in any way? Is it difficult to make a different movie about a deranged sicko?
The OMEN, could they compete with the talented cast of the original? Why remake a film almost shot for shot. Do studios really have nothing new to offer.
BUT, I must admit that I liked The Hills have Eyes. A simple film that delivered roughly what I expected with a few nice surprises. Yes, its a remake, but I hadn't seen the original and a B-grade movie loving friend of mine said that it was a good remake.

While I don't absolutely hate any movie I watch (there's always SOMETHING to pull/enjoy from any particular one), I chalk this one up to biggest disappointment. I had such high hopes and anticipation before seeing this movie, since I'm an admitted war movie freak. How many movies can claim a cast like this flick? When was Nick Nolte ever this good?!
BORING. Fucking bored to shit. I can understand and appreciate the message and imagery the storytellers wanted to illustrate with this movie, but the pacing totally killed any enjoyment and interest for the plot alone. Those beginning hill scenes could have been cut at least 10 minutes, followed by a good 15 minutes each of the humping to the second encounter with the Japanese in the village huts AND the subsequent rest/"short" leave scenes and riverbank exploration. Ugh, it destroyed any good from this movie, of which there was some.
I can't say the same about Event Horizon though. I fucking love that movie!

Yeah , but sometimes trailers can be deceiving. I remember when the previews for The Terminator and Back To The Future were shown...Poeple were laughing at them in the theatres.
Worst movies I wish I got a refund for were Alien 3, Armageddon, Thin Red Line and probably a few more that sucked so bad that my mind blocked them out.

Honestly I can sit through just about anything as well.
For the longest time I hated Rocky horror Above everything. Then along came mortal kombat 2...ugh...fell asleep 15 minutes in tomb raider at the theatre. First time this ever happened (won't count the star wars special edition I slept through in 96, I mean come on, I love the movie but at that point I literally saw it a million times). If I had to I could watch all these flicks (except rocky horror) again. But there comes a film, in everyones life, that absolutly, positivly makes you want to vomit and really regret the time of your life you wasted watching...that movie for me was...
HOUSE OF THE DEAD!
Man, they gave away the ending right at the start. The acting was awful. Flashes of a gensis game kept popping up for no reason what so ever. Finally, why was it called house of the dead when it was more specifically a deserted island? Did I mention they gave the ending away at the beginning? There was no point in watching this thing...gah, I'm so pissed just thinking about it.

I didn't like how the sequel just repeated the plot of the first. Doc Ock was a good scientist but it's not his fault, the evil arms ar making him back. *SIGHS*. Personally I like seeing my villains be BAD GUYS. Yeah every once in a while you see more depth to a villain at times but for the most part your best villains were just plain EVIL.

Yeah, seriously an ensemble cast. I'm a huge war movie freak myself and yes, I'm sure that just set me up for lots of dissappointment. I definitely agree that there were quite a few good moments in this movie, and the message was a good one, but there was just too much stagnation. There was also a movie w/ Harrison Ford and Josh Hartnett where both of them were cops. I fell asleep and don't recall the last 30 min.

The gun kata scenes were cool and it didn't have too many CG or flashy special effects which were a nice change for a movie in a genre like this. Now Ultraviolet is another story. I fell asleep during End of Days. that was a shit-fest.
Seconded. I can't believe I sat through that in the theatre.
There are few movies I'd say I really hate, but 2 Days in the Valley was one of the only ones bad enough for me to walk out of the theatre. Didn't even get half way through...

I didn't hate Breakfast Club so much as think it is a thoroughly mediocre movie. Add the fact that people love this movie so much...and I feel something akin to hating it, however.

Ok One movie stands out as a total suckfest to me.
Spawn.
My brother was working at the movie theater and got me in for free to see that one and half way through I wanted to demand my money back.
The only other one was South Park: Bigger, Louder, Uncut. But in that case I was impressed that it offended me because of the for mentioned Spawn.

How about movies I could not make it all the way through. Or as I like to call them Skip button movies.
King Kong (2005) and Lord of the Rings.
oh dear yes. Both terrible and I could never understand why people love them so much. They are just sooo boring. First response hit the nail on the head!
I'll go ahead and add Transformers to that :yuk:. In the very small minority for this one.
Spiderman 3 was an abomination as well.
Anything Tim Burton has done, I never like with the exception of Beetlejuice.

Man, just skimmed this threat and I like almost all of these movies, too.
Except for Raptor Island. That was terrible. But, now it's special to me because it was so terrible, so I almost like that one, too. Ah, Lorenzo Llamas' bobbling head. How dreamy! :)

Shut up! There are no cool Marks!
There has to be a first one. And I shall be it! (maybe)
But, much to your chagrin, just being NAMED Mark inherently makes one cooler than Michael Bolton. In fact, 95% of names out there automatically make one cooler than Michael Bolton. Even John Tesh is cooler than Michael Bolton.

I'd also like to ad Pearl HArbor and Armageddon to the list. Also: Fast and the Furious. When the limp bizkit music came on, some retard in the ailse started bobbing his head, way too into it.

I remember me and my buddy walk to three theaters before we get to watch End of Days. The first and second theater was full and the last one only have three more seats left in the front row. So we bought tickets and saw the movie with our heads stretched upwards. We swore never to watch another Schwarznegger movie again. But we did, The Sixth Day was hundred times crappier than that 1999 hype movie and we still can't believe we skipped Hollow Man for that.

Home At The End of The World. Nice acting but what a total female fantasy, ridiculous.
