How this movie missed out on a razzie is beyond me. The script, directing and acting was down right horrid.

Robert Patrick has not had much since The X-files, yet he should have run from this one.

Not only did they throw the logic out the window, they then dosed it in fuel and lit it up.

Patrick and his cronies are grade A morons.

Patrick's doing well on the tv show The Unit.

I have not seen that yet. This movie though wow.

They rob a diamond store, using the old hostage is accomplice trick. Only the guy behind the glass is in on it. So why use the trick, when the guy you want to trick is with you?

Cena survives no less than 3 buildings exploding with him in it, as well as a car.

Then that police car, a two seater.

Please, anyone who goes to see a wrestler act deserves whatever they get. I refuse to put money into Vince McMahon's hands.

It wasn't supposed to be a great movie though. It was supposed to be a high action film with a high action "star". I haven't seen it as I figured it probably would have sucked, but I certainly can't think of anyone who would have expected more, you know?

Yup sure did but it was still an ass movie. Just stupid, silly, garbage, with a few great scenes. But I wasn't expecting anything so why bitch after the fact. Waste of time.

It was a john carpenter flick anyway...McMahon films suck...ha so does wrestling! There I said it!

You know, I liked The Marine. It sucked, the acting was definitely subpar, the plot (what there was of one) was terrible, and there were more slo-mo explosions than in any other movie. But despite all of that (or maybe because of it), I liked this. It was a horrible mindless action movie, and that's what endeared it to me.

That and no marine would be that big. It's a hinderance. Marines are built for quickness, strength and endurance. Not just brute strength.

To each their own.

I do like the fact that Cena went through boot camp in preparation for the film to experience that end of it though

I watched it last night. Quite enjoyed it, actually. I thought Robert Patrick made the film. He is as cool as a cucumber! And when one dude mentioned the marine was like the Terminator, and Robert Patrick glanced into the mirror... that was great!!!
All in all, i've seen a lot worse movies.

John Cena really isn't that big. This week on Raw, he was in the same ring with Batista, Bobby Lashley and the Undertaker. Compared to those guys, Cena looked normal built.

Gonzogoose

He's still huge compared to normal guys though. When they showed him going through bootcamp he was much bigger than everyone else there, both in height and build. Cena also did a reality paintball hunter type show before coming up to the WWE and he was huge compared to the contestants.

Most Marines I've met are built like Robert Patrick. heh.

I doubt anyone had high expectations for this one.

I was expecting Oscar.

Too much? How about a Golden Globe?

Peoples Choice?

A Pornie?

The WWE has created another B-movie star.

Here's another B-movie "actor."

Now Cena and The Rock can star in the remake of, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. :har:

Me too. Sometimes you just have to watch these things for what they are. Bad guys push the limit. Things explode. Good guy comes in to fix them, but good... and more things explode... and in the end, the good guy gets the girl and saves the day. End of story... or at least the end till the sequel. Some folks want every flick to be an epic masterpiece.

Even though stuff blows up, the movie should still flow from scene to scene. The Lethal Weapon and Die Hard movies, had plenty of stuff exploding yet, the script still flowed.

They also had some bigger names, too. I'm thinking that scripts are scrutinized a bit more when Willis or Gibson or Glover are attached. Was Marine really that bad where it didn't seem like there was a beginning, middle, and end?

Mwynn
02-12-2007, 12:22 PM
Not just the beginning, middle, and end. The scenes did not follow well, because the script seemed hacked through. Suspending disbelief is one thing, not following through on any kind of logic is another. The script needed to be polished, and or another rewrite. Just because they are not looking for awards, does not mean they should just say screw it and film it.

Nothing that Patricks crew did made me think, they were smart enough to steal those diamonds. The villians in Die Hard had a plan, that they followed step by step, even with McClane running around screwing things up.

The villains in The Marine had no plan, except to shoot stuff and blow it up. Then have the black guy go off on tirades, that I guess were suppose to be funny. If the villain in the story is useless, what does that say about the hero?

it's an action film, not a high class piece of art indy film....If you have to think during an action film then your watching it all wrong.

This movie is just like what the WWE does now. No plot, just fights.

The WWE needs an overhaul.

Also, wrestlers need to stick to wrestling.

Yes and No. Weapons Company had ALOT of big guys. We had to hump crew served weapons, so everyone lifted. But your right for the most part. Now the airwing on the otherhand; tons of guys that had mass. They got better chow and had the time to lift on a regular basis.

Die Hard had a good story. And if you believe the people on IMDB, it's the 156th best movie ever.

If you say so. I never found the draw to it myself. Fell into that whole lethal weapon type story thing. I know alot of people love die hard but I can't stand it.
