Something outside of comics I've been working on. Even though it's very comicbook art like.

I'm partial to the first myself. Votes are kind of even all around.
I'm on the Pariah 1/2 convention special page 3 now.
This is a quick profile of Natasami in Rat form for a toy maker who is working 3 characters from the comic. Pariah the main character, Pookie the demon and nat. Nat the Rat will be small enough to sit on Pariah's shoulders.
I'm also extremely excited over the Wondercon SF. My partner in crime and writer Orlando Harding has a table and I just secured plane tickets to be there! I usually stick to the SanDiego con so this'll be an exciting trip. I've never been to San Francisco. Orlando's going to show me around Oakland and the Bay area. I'm going to take LOADS of reference Photos to use on Pariah.
I've never had a table at a con, although I've been to about 5-6 of the major ones. I really look foreword to draw sketches for anyone who walks up. If anyone here goes to the wonder con please come up and ask for a sketch. If no one walks up then you'll reckognize me as the grown man crying at the Pariah table. :D
Help me out!

Thats some nice work on the pariah pages ya got there. Damn thats gotta be the best drawn rat I've ever seen. Hey if your at the SF comic con and I see ya crying I'll come over and buy the rest of the Pariah issues I dont have. So when I buy those issues of Pariah that means you could return the favor and draw my comic book story next. Yeah baby, that sounds fair. :whistlin:

Yea I wanted get some opinions. Overall I always like what Rod does. I'm just afraid it might be too dark. I'm pretty sure if it looks dark on the computer screen it'll look darker in print. I'd like to avoid mud. That would'nt help any of us.
Might be becuase computers vary. Maybe it looks brighter on his screen.

It's good but he high-lights the shoulder too much.
To me the shoulder is the only thing that stands out... I find myself looking for the rest of the picture. I don't get were the light is coming from.
my 2 cents...

Thanks Aaron. I think the whole body could be lightened up. In the end if I think the first page is too dark we'll have him do 3 versions with varying values Dark, Medium , and light and just choose the best.
thanks.
Here's the boom Backer splash colored and the next penciled page for Pariah Convention special.

Actually I do drink alot of caffine.
But I don't smoke (anymore) and I seldom drink so maybe it'll even up! :)
I've been keeping the pencils pretty loose Since I'll be doing the inks. Just saves time and less boring for me. Going over the same exact lines puts me to sleep! I tend to let my hand do what ever on the pencils and then pull in the reins during inking.
The Boom Backer stuff is for a website in developement that will cater to all genre of music and more. These hope to spur discussion to investors and serve the 3d artists as concepts. I prolly should'nt be showing these but the guy I'm doing them for will never visit this site.
I'm having a blast with The Pariah 1/2. It's my best to date and I feel stronger with every page. I'm really excited to see the pages grayscaled. Seeing the sample Bluepen sent makes me :bounce:

the last panel with the fairy hitting the guy has to be one of the most strangest looking poses and swings i've ever seen...there is no way that pose could be possible..female characters don't always have to be posed with there chest out and hips back.

Honestly though: crit noted. :)
In the last panel I was trying to make the Fairy seem alittle goofy. I wanted her to try to keep some dignity and feminism while she hefts around the mace. She's "Forest Gumping" her way around a this point. On the panel where she flies over the Bay Bridge I have action lines to show her clumsey flight pattern. I hope this to pull off funny to readers. My approach on the Fairy is to be a parody of the popular Fairy stuff.

ok, now i know what you were going for with the fairy :) i think to make it alittle easier to read is to have more of her in the panel or have the figures a little smaller to fit her in...and maybe bend her knees alittle more to kick out her feet if....
