Hello, people.

This work was done mostly with Photoshop CS 2, although I've used elements of 3D modelling (heads and woman's hand) and vectors with CorelDRAW (batman's symbol).

I've used some pics from 'Batman Begins' as reference.

I wish you like it. Comments and critiques are welcome.

Soon I will post some details of the image.

Cool. The halo thing is a little weird, but very well executed overall.

I think that's a light on the wall in the background.

Light or Halo, it's distracting. Light the steam from below and get rid of the thing above his head.

Otherwise, I dig it. let's see more.

Its the car. Chicks dig the car.

Great piece, btw. I agree with the lighting issue that's been brought up. Change that and this'll be pretty close to perfect :)

Excellent!!! :kewl: Scores 9 1/2 from the judge from Gotham! Loses half point because the face looks more Michael Keaton than Christian Bale.

LORD FEJJ: Thanks!

CHAOSGOAT: Yes... Actually it is a fluorescent light. But, yes, it odd, really.

T REAPER: Thats right! A light! A little strange, but light!

KEP: Thanks! Yes... Now, I see it would be better if I haven't done the light near his head... I don't know why I only see those things when the work is done....

SCHERZO: Yes... Batman is the man! so, he gets the girls!

SHEP: Exactly! That's because he has a car... I mean, a bat-car! Thanks, SHEP! Yes, I think you're right. I'm gonna remove that light. And I will post the image here, so tha we may see the difference.

PAUL SANDERSON: Thanks!

DARKNI9TH: Thaks! And, yes... Michael Keaton is very, very bad! I don't know why he was chosen to be batman in the first movie!

DISMAS: Thanks!

Thanks for the comments!

Only crits I have are about the light source. The lights don't really seem like they are coming from the same direction.

Also, that girls body needs some tweeking. Those breasts look rediculous.

This piece has a very professional feel, but I'm surprised at how many people seem to love it. To me, it lacks feeling, that great produced by hand feel and texture (even the cleanest inking or smoothest airbrushing has some texture).

It looks more like full poser models with a paint over than just the hands and head. So slick and professional it imparts no 'feeling' - Just my personnal opinion.

I guess the original photo of that scene must "lack feeling" then too? The reality is, the above piece is excellent, the photo original isn't all that dynamic in the first place, but that's nothing to do with the above piece of art.

How can you say it has nothing to do with the art, when your creating your own artwork you are in full control of how it's produced, altered, rendered etc. If all you want to do is exactly reproduce something that already exists use a copier.

You CREATE the art - and yes, the original pic was pretty dull too IMO.

Did you see the last line of my text... Just my personnal opinion.

JEFFW: Thanks! That's because Photoshop is a very easy to use program. Although Corel Painter is superior in terms of digital painting, it is very hard to use. One day I will lear how to use Painter.

ANTI-CREST: Yes, there is more than one source of ligh, but the yellow one is the stronger. The second stronger is the red one, wich comes from left, near woman“s head. The white one comes from behind batman, and is difuse because of the smoke. And... about the breasts.. I kind of like it!

SEVANS: Ok, I respect your point of view. In fact, I can paint it all by hand... Actually I've done more reallistic works all-by-hands (I mean, Photoshop and tablets), and it does not mean much to me. This present work means an experience to me, where I try to integrate all the technics I know at the moment. At first I intended to do everything 3D, but I don't know 3D modelling enough for that, so Photoshop is the most used program. But I am not a professional artis. Instead, I am a Physics Professor. (Painting is a hobby)

PAUL SANDERSON: Thanks, Paul! Actually, this is an almost-copy of a picture, despite the fact of using 3D. But, as I mentioned before, this is mostly an experimental piece. If I had tried something original, then I would have tho problems to sovle: the composition and the execution. And... well ... the character a little stactic of the image -- pietą-like -- is due to the original pics. I am glad youi like it!

Thanks for yor comments, fellows, they are very useful to help improve my next works!

Yep, that's what I saying, the original photo is rater static, so if you're trying to replicate that image almost exactly, then that will come across too. To my way of thinking, that means you've done an excellent job in transferring the photo into the artistic realm.

Thanks for the comments!

I read somewhere that the original choice for Batman was Bill Murray. Count your lucky stars you got Keaton instead of an aging Venkman.

I agree with the thread... and kudos on getting your chance to scratch that itch to draw someting fun, hopefully you had a blast working on it-- becasue from were I am sitting, it looks like you did.

If I can make a suggestion, note the woman's body... her feet in relation to her head seems to suggest forced perspective... giving the illusion that she is much taller than a normal woman (whatever that means).

Sure she is closer to the viewer so her head is bigger... but it still makes the relation to the male figure a bit backwards from the typical heroic iconic image of the Strong Man hoisting a Damsel in Distress. I suggest removing the bit of architecture beneath her feet... it does not have a great deal of visual information to make it out for what it is... plus it creates an akward tangent with her shoes... as if she is resting her feet on it. I think smoke there would be more effective, and add a bit more mystery-- and appearing more limp in his embrace.

btw: He kinda looks small and puny... as though he may be rescuing an Amazonian Woman-- which in itself is not necessarily a bad thing, but I am guessing that is not the look you were going for.

Looking forward to seeing more pics you do for fun... I would suggest a fun WRAITH picture having the same texture and mood. It suits you well, and shows you enjoy it-- keep having fun!!! :bounce:

The finish is great, thats definitely not the area that I didn't like (personal taste) and it's great to see people trying new techniques and experimenting.

Keep posting and experimenting.

I believe some guys are right, the light behind distracts, but besides than that, your illustration is awesome!
