Bullets, Babes, & Bra-Straps

I post these over at deviant and since I haven't posted in here in awhile,
I figured I'd post a few things that I got a chance to mess around with over my break for the holidays.
I got a copy of photoshop cs and painter ix and some reading material on coloring
so it's kinda my first tryout at coloring on the computer that is.
The pic of the girl in the swim shorts is actually a splash page
but I'm also going to put it in my calender that I'm putting together so I'm looking to have some fun.

Very nice, i dig your wimmens but the only thing annoying is that they all seem to have the same eyes, i mean you've drawn the eyes the same for all of them so they look like they're sisters or something.

Everything else rocks!!! :har:

Yes some of them are twins and some are half sisters......I have some other pieces I'm working on where you'll get to see more of the girls that aren't related......thanks!

i like the perspective on the second pic...but i agree with what was said about the eyes. i know it's kinda relative, but everyone really does have different looks and eyes and what not. try experimenting with this. maybe think about the personality of your character and then construct his/her face around that. That's what a lot of other artists do.

cool stuff...the chick in the first one's leg looks alittle weird, like it's broken... nice butt shot in the 3rd one...and i do like the colors in the last one so all in all great stuff...

Lol!! Yeah I'm sure most see the pregnant chick and be like what's up with that? The pregnant chicks name is Paizley and she's actually a waitress working in the club serving drinks and stuff. So the guy that owns the joint is letting her work since the father of her unborn skipped out. Though she's not as innocent as she appears to be. Her sister isn't in the 3 page spread but she's posted in the early part of this thread as "Sunny Diamond" the chick wearing the sunglasses. Basically they all have some hidden secret about them that clashes with they're everyday lifestyles.

Here is the final version of Sunny Diamond. I'll probably use this one for June in the calender.
I really like how this came out. Josh did a great job with the colors,
I especially like the flare and the sun effect.

Thanks. The worms eye view of Sunny Diamond is one of my favorites. I really like how the colorist brought it to life. Maybe I can do a few more with that type of feel to it.....

Thanks. I agree. I've decided to do very little cross hatching. So the only thing I'm using is a brush for the inks which is what I like most.I tend to make things appear flat probably has a lot to do with how I originally wanted the work to look like, which wasn't intended for color. So I made a few adjustments to what I've been doing because I wanted to see it with color and do a style where there will be more room for the colorist to play. Besides I don't think I'd like the calender if it were blk & wht. I showed a few things in blk and whit to a few people and everybody goes for the colored stuff so I'll try the colors and see how it goes.

Thanks. I got a few comments on the fact that it seems like all the girls look alike though some of them do for one reason or another so doing the calender will allow me to work with larger layouts and close-ups so now you see more personality.

This is the 2nd and 3rd page (doublespread) of the graphic novel the first page .......basically an establishing shot of the city then it leads you into the hall of a hotel and there is a housekeeping lady pushing her cart down the hall and she sees a man dressed in a black long coat like a London Fog with a black hat and gloves leave the room where the girl was murdered. He walks by her in the hall and she sneaks a glance at him and then she gets to the room and opens the door and then you get the double spread. So yeah there is graphic novel in the works though you'll see most of the characters through out the up coming calenders......

So, unless your killer really hates her or that's his calling card you should pull the knife out a bit and show a bit of the blade. :)

Not a bad job but for some reason the style is inconsistent between images, as well as the linework. Are you tracing some of these from photos? I dont want to criticize that, everybody seems to be doing it nowadays, but the style issues are a problem for me. I prefer your very first image actually, more stylish than most of the others.

Yeah I like the stylish stuff too. I had basically decided to do the work for the calender a little more tighter and cleaner since the art is going to be printed in a larger format and since it's going to be hanging on your wall as a calender or poster I felt it should be a lot more crips and bold. Who know's I may do the same as I progress through out the pages. I'm still trying to get a good feel for how I want the book to read. I really would like a few clones so I can shut down some of the other inking I'm doing for the other artist out here and focus on a few projects of my own. :blink:
