haha he can't get away from comments about color on his commissions. first me and now you.
The original creature from the black lagoon was in black and white and subsequent remakes and rereleases with added color made him green. The idea behind that he's some sort of sea monster and monsters are green. Anyway, just cuz the water is black doesn't mean the monster would be.
I'm sure the comissioner likes it. I would. I <3 the creature.

wow, so many people don't know so many things.
The original costume is green and he isn't a sea creature...he lives in the LAGOON.
Your no art adams but good stuff....hey when you gonna do the animation thing again?

On the Art Adams point: DUH! But who is, really?
The Animation thing: I tried to make this as animated as I though I could, but it wasn't doing it justice.

Yeah you,ve had some damn entertaining comments, but ooh well not everyone can be movie geeks.
Anyway as a fan of the old monsters (more their cheesy designs than the films) this piece rocks!
Dammit, now I feel compelled to draw a Frankenstein, Wolfman, Dracula or other retro monster.

I always thought the creature was a darker green... :p
Great piece though. I always loved that classic flick.

I can't tell the original color of the costume as the movie I have is in black and white. Anyway, obviously he's from a LAGOON, but the point is he was created to be a kind of sea monster. Is any LAGOON a sea? no, far from it. But the theology is still there. Its water and its an unknown territory. That is what scares people. SO MUCH water covers our whole planet and we never see anything but the surface(for the most part). We don't know whats hiding underneath the water; be it lake, lagoon, swamp, ocean or what ever.
wow.. you guys don't get our much do you...you have WAY too much time on your hands...
oh and AC the reason you have the movie in black and white is because the movie IS black and white..it was colorized by Turner in the whole colorization era..BUT.. UNIVERSAL has made it pretty clear the creature is green in all the DECADES of marketing...now
...let...it...go...
geez

I wasn't questioning the color, I knew it was green:
rereleases with added color made him green.
I was more commenting on LilGreenMans arrogance and condescension than anything.
But I suppose the important bit is indeed that the picture looks cool as hell and the artist did a good job.
