hi
i see you can buy comic style fonts from these 2 websites.
i have d/l a freebie to take a peek but how do you get it so its larger with the colourful outlines like on a comic front cover?

Most titles and such used on comic covers are hand-drawn for that specific title. There are so many subtle effects that can really bring your cover to life that even the best programs simply can't produce. Best approach (to me) is to use an appropriate font to get the general idea of what you want, then use that as a reference to produce the title splash by hand.
Learning to use the proper tools will help you. In the case of Covers, Illustrator (and occasionally Photoshop) are the industry standard. You will have to learn to use these tools in order to do what you ask.
Sorry, there's no quick fix.
