Digital inking w/Photoshop: Mandrake's Spectre

My first go at digital inking. I'm very pleased w/ the outcome.

Nice. Illustrator has a bit better control and smoother line over PS I've found...not that I like inking with a comp to begin with.

Your work follow the lines too literally to the point to being very scratchy looking. Mandrake's pencil are fairly loose so they force the inker to bring more to the pencils than just slapping down ink the pencil lines. They force you to fill in the blacks and properly ink the non-organic lines like the gears.

I'm no Inker. But the guy above me is right. I'm a penciler.. and I'm pretty sure the scratchy shadows from the penciler was supposed to be inked in completely black.
