Anyone here read Boom! Comics? They run these comic strips in their books. I'd love to start running something like this in DWP. It's basically the size of a daily comic strip and focuses on DWP stuff. Any one interested? It's not a paying gig, but I can supply you with comps.

I have never read a Boom! Comic, but are talking about something like Bart Sears did in his old Brute & Babe comics?

I never seen the Brute & Babe comics. Okay, basically think syndicated comic strip format. Consists of like 3-4 panels, tells a little joke, whatever. It could relate to DWP past characters, current characters, even some forum events.

I got a question, when you say any DWP character (past or present) does that include BLOODRAYNE. I, and I am sure others, just don't want to step on anyone's toes. Also, past characters. Is there anyway you can get a list of characters we actually can use? 'Cause I am not sure which ones are DWP properties and which ones are not, and again, don't want to step on anyone's toes.

That's a good question. I'm glad you brought it up. Okay, there are some creator-owned characters we'll probably have to steer clear from. But I know a bunch of guys who won't mind as long as I place a character copyright/ownership notice on it. The safest way to tackle this would be mention the character and I can check with the creator before anything is started. Some off the top of my head that would be okay are; Digital Widow, Klik-Boom, Last Paladin, Fist of Justice, Logan from Slight of Hand, Nothingface, Crazy Mary, Dreah, etc. BloodRayne's tricky, plus I'd like to stick with just the characters that have appeared in the anthology.

Huh? It's winter, isn't it too cold to just wear shorts? :p
If we have several creators interested (and that looks like the case), we can rotate through them once we decide on a title. Maybe if there's enough finished strips sitting around, I could print a couple per issue.

So I get to keep my shorts on?
Gimmie some wooly socks and I'll draw whatever you need.

Ron's in charge of wooly socks.

I heard that.
Isn't he the guy that rolls them up and pads out his speedo with them?

Could be. But watch out, I heard he 'starches' them as well.

LOL! See, that would have been a riot as a comic strip.

So could we use "fictional" versions of the DW staff working on the issue? Picture 3 or four guys working in one room only answering to their online handles.
Even if the reader has never been on the forums, an strong charator like the pig headed Mr.Musgrave or ever preaching Spirit would go over great.
Hell, what other bullpen has a Little Green Man in one corner and a Magical Kep in the over? We could even keep Kep moving desks every week ;)

That'd be awesome! But, you'd have to get permission from each 'real' person.

Don't worry about that Ed. If anyone on these boards had enough money to sue us, they'd have enough money to subscribe to the books and we wouldn't be here trying to think up new and fun ways to get people to buy them.

Ed- Three panel standard?

3-4, whatever works. It'll fit in a 6" area on the page. If you find it too restrictive, we can go the Sunday comics route which is 2 rows.

So, do we submit them with fingers crossed or should we wait for your approval before starting, Ed?

I like either. I've been really enjoying working in 3-panel lately (new piece with Dario Carrasco coming soon to a monitor near you!), so I think I'll start there.
Steve, I'll have you scripts to consider by Monday.

I'd hope not. Otherwise I couldn't use it as an excuse for all my slurred line-work.
