I agree...maybe blurring the smoke a bit and changing the blacks to something lighter?

Yessum, I agree I'm a little lost. Not being much of a colourist, I can only suggest the obvious things (which you've no doubt tried anyway!) like looking at it in grayscale and seeing how legible the linework is.

I also think the left leg gets a bit lost in the highlight.

Incidentally, who is that? Megatron?

It has been reported that is Bumblebee in fight mode. Yeah, the movie is going to suck.
