Rather than a thread for each new piece of art, I'm gonna condense the lot into one thread from now on.
First up, Mr. Creed at the office...

Yeah, Raphael is cool. But crude, so I hear.
Most of you probably won't know this guy. He's a Brit 'comedian' (I use the term loosely since I'm as amused by him as I am by ritual suicide), by the name of Russell Brand. Another for the submission pack.

I declare this thread alive once more! Rejoice, and dance with a terrier or something.
So, although I've mentioned it before many times, here's what's been happening with the beans.
First off, we've got Doxy Proxy, the comic I went insane trying to complete on time (almost losing a lung through forgetting to breathe). It's published by Image as part of Popgun, volume 1. It's a huge book, but it's really cheap for its size. It's about Jesus and the Antichrist fighting crime.
http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h183/jam-wah/doxycoversmallerwithbanner.jpg
I'm also doing some stuff I can't talk about. That's not handy right now, so I'll show you one of the many collaborations I've worked on with good ol' Doctor Doxx (not a real doctor). This one is the latest. It's going with me to the Birmingham con.

JamieRoberts
10-11-2007, 05:53 PM
Cheers! Although I'm attached to the project and therefore ever so slightly biased, I can tell you that Popgun is looking friggin' hot. The sheer number of stories and creators involved is insane, and it's so varied. I can't wait to read it!

12-26-2007, 10:03 AM
Hullo. Turns out I got shunted from volume 1 of Popgun to volume 2, but no biggie. It's out just in time for San Diego 2008!
Still cranking out the work, but here's a little relaxant I drew up. Jesse Custer from Preacher, half-beaned. Oh, it's part of Draw-Off Blitz 24(?), too. Just saying.

I decided today that I've strayed quite a way from the bean men style. Got a couple of deadlines out of the way, and finished up this little number. I sketched it well before Heath Ledger's unfortunate demise, but now I think it's my tribute to the guy. It's obviously based on the publicity shot for The Dark Knight, but with a beany spin.

Hey guys,
I'm not really doing the forum thing at the moment for a number of reasons, but as a result I've been working a lot more, and I thought maybe you'd be interested in the latest bean men. I'm pretty much doing these as warm-ups now, they take between 1 and 2 hours each and I love creating them!
Incidentally, I really appreciate all the comments I get on this thread, even though I tend to forget to reply half of the time. You guys are the reason I'm still doing this.

Really fantastic work, as always, Jamie. I love this bean people thread. I'm forced to peruse the entire thing every time you post since you go so long between updates. My only question is whether Thor is missing an eyebrow on purpose or not? I absolutely must (must!) commission you to do a bean version of one of my characters someday.

Guess what? I decided not to go to bed early tonight, and instead did my first bean man in months. I really enjoyed it, I'd forgotten how satisfying it can be to do these guys. This one was 70 mins, start to finish.
How the hell I thought tackling a character who's known for his nose would be a good idea, but I think it worked.

Again, it's been a while. December was not a month I'll be sad to see go. I got almost zero illustrating done, and just felt indifferent towards the whole thing. It's taken a lot of effort to sit back down at the PC and do something today. It's not work, just something to ease me back into it. Hence, the simplicity of this pic. I'm aiming for getting back into the swing of things by the weekend.
So anyway, I may as well show this off. I sketched bean men of the Thunderbolts on my lunch break about a month ago, so here's Venom.
