anybody got any information re CS2? i've got CS1, which is only now okay to use for DC's stuff. it's a pretty clunky version of illustrator, as best i can judge, but i've only been using it for a month or so.

is CS2 a marked improvement? is it worth buying?

and do they sell the Illustrator upgrade by itself? i'd rather avoid paying big bucks for upgrades on the bundled programs which i seldom use.

thanks for your insight, if you've got any insight.

CS2 requires a large amount of memory. The tryout performed okay on my mac (I upgraded my Ram), but the tryout version had many complaints. Adobe even needed to fix a few bugs for this (yes, the tryout version  ). So it's hard to go by that, but you can go to http://www.adobe.com/downloads/ to try out Adobe products. And it says it will only run on the latest MacOs, but it does work on Jaguar.

However, unless you want to use the inking or flatting program on it, I don't think it's worth the money.

I'm pretty sure I've heard that they're upgrading it again by Summer, so you may want to hold off.

The only feature on CS2 that you'd likely use would be the auto-trace feature Clem, but you've already got a sure-fire technique for exporint glyphs to Font Lab, so I doubt that you'd use Auto-trace anyhow.

I like CS2 quite a bit. The main thing for me is the actions work better and they expanded scripting. That said, CS3 is due out in a month or three and I'd definately wait for that as it's a major overhaul.

When you upgrade do you have to do it online? Or can you just pop in the upgrade disc and activate it and be done?

I hate registering my products because all I get is junk mail and unhelpful tips from Adobe.

CS2 is great - the Live Trace in Illustrator is worth the price of admission in my opinion.

I have to wait for the new UNIVERSAL SOFTWARE, since I just got a new MacBook Pro.

It is SWEEET! Sure beats the G4 466mgz I was using!

Is there a way to use Live Trace on a section, not just the whole page?
