This weekend (Sunday 11/12), the AZCBA (AZ Comic Book Association) will be at the Grand Opening of Spazdog Comics in Glendale (myself included) doing sketches for donations to the Susan G, Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. If you're in the area, wanna swing by and get some art from some of the valley's best and brightest comic creators (or me), or just wanna check out the newest comic shop in town (it's gonna be sweet!) We'll be there on Sunday from 12 Noon to 6 pm. I'll be doing sketches the whole time, so come on out, support local business, local artists, and Breast Cancer research at the same time. How many events can claim all that?

SpazDog Comics' Grand Opening Guests Announced
Phoenix—SpazDog Comics is pleased to announce it's guests for its upcoming Grand Opening Celebration. The two year old online business opens its retail store doors to the public on November 11, 2006 with comic book creator signings, door prizes and giveaways.
"We really wanted to have a guest list that honors our origins and paves the path to the future", said manager and co-owner Shawn DeMumbrum. Three of the guests have participated in SpazDog Comics signings for Free Comic Book Days. Tucson husband and wife mini-comic creative team Ken and Maggie Wright participated the last two years. Jay Fotos, whose artistic talents can be seen in the comic books Spawn, Clive Barker's The Great and Secret Show and Frank Frazetta's Death Dealer, helped out at this year's Free Comic Book Day. Tucson resident Greg Manino shows off his photo comic book Dorothy, a modernized tale of Dorothy of OZ. Daniel Davis brings his all ages illustrated book, Caught Creatures, that combines monsters and haiku. Daniel Bradford artist of Smoke and Mirrors will not only be signing comic books, but will have some original art for sale in The Gallery at SpazDog Comics. The Gallery is a section of the store that will have original art, posters, lithographs and glicees for sale with different artists rotating every month. The opening exhibit Daniel Bradford: The Art of Da! runs from November 11 through December 31.
Both Saturday and Sunday, members of the Arizona Comic Book Association will be showing off their latest creations and sketching for charity. Donations will benefit the Phoenix Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
