DC, Marvel or another company.
Matt Murdock always seemed like a good one to me, noone would ever suspect a blind man.
Bruce Wayne is also good because you can always have an excuse to not be around pretending to be shallow and friendless. The Millionaire part seems like it might be easy to trace after a while tho with Batman having all the high tech Gadgetry.
Peter Parker as well "before the unmasking obviously" because Spiderman could be anyone.

I was going to say Spider-Man. :har:
Quesada and JMS need to be replaced soon. I wonder how JMS is going to treat Thor when he writes it. I'm not really looking foward to seeing his version of Thor.

Yeah noone would guess that a little kid was Captain Marvel. I always found it a little bizarre tho, he has the mind of a little boy and the body of a man, it's just screaming to be vertigoized.

It is a little bizarre -- though it could be viewed as a metaphor for many superhero comics fans, I suppose -- but I don't think the Marvel Family needs to get the Vertigo treatment.
DC's repeated, clumsy attempts to make those characters "serious" have been more than enough for me. Once you begin to strip Captain Marvel & Co. of their inherent goofiness, there's not much left; Marvel just becomes another Superman knock-off.
But I'm hoping Jeff Smith's upcoming miniseries will hit the right balance -- not too zany for modern comics, but none of that grim nonsense, either.

Actually I was kidding, I like the more lighthearted stuff as well. I wish they could somehow take some of the silly characters in Shazam and make them work tho. I just can't see Tawny the lion and that little worm dude, they just don't work now.

I think the "earnest" thing can work. The Dini/Ross Power of Hope was on the money I think...as dead-on corny as the end was. I also liked Orway's Power of Shazam GN. I think what's important is to remember that there is no "mopdern" take to have on the character. I thought the idea that Shazam had Fawcett City under a mystical shield from progress, keeping the art deco look, was really good too.
I also love that in (the mediocre) Underworld Unleashed Mini-Series, when Neron was looking for the purest soul in the DCU, everyone thought he meant Superman. But he was looking for Captain Marvel.

Squirrel Girl.
 Please everyone knows Moneky Joe has the best secret identity....he's Simon from Alvin and the Chipmunks. No one would expect that !
I also have to go with Big Bertha while we're on the GLA. Who'd think that'd she'd be a supermodel ? Not the shallow people in the world !

Some might say that Raven Darkholme isn't that great an identity, but she can really be anyone she choses. No other character has that flexibility. If Batman is found out... he's hosed. If Mystique is found out, she just changes identities and moves on, problem solved.
