The league begins to form, while Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman sit in the cave picking names.

Well I don't want to give to much away. Issue 3 just came out.

Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are still picking members. There are already quite a few leaguers already. I know some of who they pick will say no. Someone that was voted in was a surprise to me.

I will get one possible spoiler.

I belive that Morrow is using Red Tornados aold body to make Amazo. He put Parasites arm inside it.

Superman: Well I'll trade you green lantern for captain carrot and blue beetle.

Batman: throw in the hookhand aquaman and I'll deal.

Wonder Woman: This is fun but I feel like we are forgetting something.

The question I have is why did they need photos to vote, the three of them have worked with almost every hero in existence. They just need to get out of their chairs and punch some bad guy in the face.

Think of it like sports scouting, you know a bunch of guys you scouted but maybe the rest in your organzation haven't or seen little of them. And besides I'm sure even they forgot about superhero #1,999,999 or whatever from time to time. Even Bats, Supes and Wonderwoman need a databse.

Plenty of plot advancement with the reveal of Trident.

Technical issue:

Would a strong person with an arrow really be able to poke holes in an android say, fourty times or so? How strong is she? Or were the copy tornados made of tin foil?

Actually, they were made of pudding.

I think they're homegrown cabbage people.

The funny thing about this JLA is it is shaping up on its own no matter who Supes, Bats and Wondy..er, Wonder Woman picked from the very first issue. Doesn't that remind you of New Avengers?

still the photos though, I mean if they forgot or something but they were choosing in the batcave with the most advanced computer in the dc universe so why did they still need photos. I blame batman for wasting paper and distroying their fictional environment.

Remove the photos from the scene.... what do you have? Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman talking. Not very exciting is it? These scenes aren't meant to be full of action but instead they are to give us insight to the characters at hand, in this case DC's Big Three.

The photos give the reader something to focus on aside from three people just sitting around and talking. I know it's been said why photos and not computer file images or video. Either way it doesn't matter. No matter what form the images of the other heroes take it's still going to be a scene about how Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman interact with each other. The image is secondary to the story and the plot.

What...? Story...? In a comic book...? Wow... what will they think of next.

As for the rest of the story, Im enjoying it right now. I applaud Brad Metzler for doing something in this issue I've said needs to be done for years. Wont spoil what right now but those who read the issue will know when they get to the last page.

Also love the guest appearance by the Phantom Stanger. Always a fav of mine...

Lots of plot threads being woven in this book. Looks like it'll be a good ride.

There's nothing there that hasn't been done before. Let's not go overboard with needless praise for Meltzer. He's done nothing revelatory or even overly interesting here.

Thanks, Frank. This series is ok, but nothing mandatory by any means.

A few quick thoughts about the series:

- I love the team they put together. Include Martian Manhunter & (the real) Aquaman and this becomes one of my favorite lineups in the history of the league.

- The book is moving entirely too slow. In the third issue, why are the Big Three still sitting in the Batcave figuring out which heroes get to "move on to Hollywood" (little American Idol humor)? Let's keep it movin', Brad.

- The artwork is gorgeous. I wanted a big name artist for this series, but I had never seen Ed Benes' stuff before. He's perfect for this book. Between Benes and GL's Ivan Reis, DC has really hit the jackpot this year.

What I hope they are doing, is showing that Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman are not the foundation of the league anymore. The League is forming while they are casting votes. What I hope happens, is that GL and the others invite them to join the league.

I'm really enjoying Benes's art as well. I wouldn't mind if Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman weren't there at all.

I didn't get Iss #3. After two issues of them sitting around voting on who gets to be in the special club I gave up. Instead of a space station they're all gonna meet in a tree house!! And once a month they'll have a sleep over! And camp out in the back yard!

With New Avengers, the team kinda came together on the fly. They didn't stand around and pick names first.

And New Avengers were so awesome, they waited a whole 2 years to relaunch!

I do agree, the art is very nice, but the story is as slow as molasses, and about as interesting.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think New Avengers is relaunching. There will be two Avengers books.

There's only one page of the big 3 actually sitting around in the 3rd issue and the rest is pretty high paced stuff and I like those campy scenes. It's like something a fanboy would do with baseball cards. I'm glad they're sitting out some rounds- they have they're own books anyway. Great watching the other guys run around. All very exciteing and inspirational to me. Then again I haven't followed too many DC team ups like this. Benes is great and I cuaght on why all the JLA sketches started popping up on his deviantart site!

Metzler was always going to leave the book after 12 issues. It's all he was signed on for.

McDuffy said he was adding John Stewart to the roster. Hal isn't going anywhere though. He's keeping both GLs.

Im not a big McDuffy fan but I'll keep going with the JLA because I've been with the book for so long, through thick and thin. Nothing can be as bad as the end of the 90's era run when Wonder Woman led the team with Fire, Nuklon, and a talking alien pteradactyl.

Too bad Art Adams isn't drawing the book on a regular basis. That would be outstanding.

Then why isn't Hal on the cover? I'm a bit wary of this, I like JLU and even Static but a carbon copy of Justice League Adventure is not exactly what I would like to read.

Black Lightning, Red Arrow, Black Canary, Red Tornado -- several characters aren't on the cover.

No one's said it's going to be a "carbon copy" of Justice League Adventures. (Though Justice League Unlimited and Adventures both do a good job of distilling characters to their core elements, keeping what's important and appealing while losing the continuity baggage. Many DCU titles could take lessons from them.)

McDuffie likes John Stewart, just as Meltzer has a soft spot for Hal Jordan and Red Tornado. What's the big deal about him choosing to use that Green Lantern instead of Hal (or Guy, or Kyle, or ...)?

MacDuffie said something in Wizard about 12 GLs on the League.
I don't think it's going to happen, though.
It was more of his own opinion/dream?
