Ok folks, I'm not a letterer, so I need your wisdom.
I've been asked if I could use a specific font to title an illustration I recently completed. The font comes from this site...http://www.dafont.com
Does anyone have a clue if this is a safe place to download a free font? I don't want to end up with a bunch of spyware or adware, that would just suck.
Any help/advice would be great, thanks. :)

Yeah, I download fonts from there all the time. I think there are some real gems there.

Just remember to check the license. Some will have no restrictions, some will only be free for non-commercial use.
My personal favorite source for freeware fonts! Check the licence, do right by the designers, and you'll live a long and happy life. I should'a been a fortune cookie.
