HAVERHILL, MA, February 16, 2005 - It's been three years since Digital
Webbing launched the first issue of its Internet collaborative anthology
series known as DIGITAL WEBBING PRESENTS (DWP) against widespread doubt
and uncertainty. Defying all odds the publisher still thrives, and this
March will release their extra-sized, 3rd anniversary issue: DIGITAL
WEBBING PRESENTS #21!
DIGITAL WEBBING PRESENTS #21 is a full-color, 40-page anniversary,
all-zombie issue . filled to the brim with fun and fright by some of the
best talents the industry has to offer; with an amazing cover provided
by legendary horror artist, Bernie Wrightson!
"What an amazing three years this has been," said Digital Webbing
founder and Managing Editor, Ed Dukeshire. "I'd love to take all the
credit for the success, but I'd be lying if I didn't give most of it to
the amazing creators we've had over the years. DWP is a success simply
because of all the great talent that has gone into it."
Some of today's most popular creators and books have their roots in
DIGITAL WEBBING PRESENTS, including Eric Powell's THE GOON, featured in
early issues of DWP and now publishing with Dark Horse Comics. Writer,
Jason Henderson, also featured in the pages of DWP an early story from
his now wildly-popular Image Comics series, SWORD OF DRACULA.
Both Henderson and Powell mark their return to DWP next month with the
release of DIGITAL WEBBING PRESENTS #21, each bringing with them a
frightening tale of horror and the undead!
Powell rejoins the DWP team with a contest to find the artist of his
newest short story, titled "CITIZEN ZOMBIE," and after searching many
entries, Nick Bradshaw (Army of Darkness) took home the prize; joined by
inker, Derek Fridolfs (Fantastic Four), and colorist, Rhys Yorke!
While Henderson returns with "SWORD OF DRACULA: COOLER HEADS," with
artist Terry Pallot, telling the story of a teenaged Ronnie Van Helsing;
the girl who would grow to one day lead an army of men in her battle
against the deadly Dracula!
"Digital Webbing has been a key part in the development of SWORD OF
DRACULA," said Henderson. "We had the prequel in DWP before SWORD OF
DRACULA #1 came out, and now we're returning to get a closer look at
[the characters]. I was so excited to get to do this story here. In my
mind this is what DWP is for: a jam session where we can plunk away at
what's around the corner."
Along with "CITIZEN ZOMBIE" and "SWORD OF DRACULA," other stories in
this extra-sized spectacular include:
"REMEMDIUM," by writer Kel Nuttall (Nothingface) and painted by James
Woodward (Crazy Mary), is the tale of human beings facing extinction at
the hands of the living dead, so a team of scientists examine a truly
horrific solution.
"ICEBERG," by writer Mike Imboden (Warmageddon) and artwork by Fathih
Hasbudak and L. Jamal Walton (Warmageddon), A couple of stowaways on a
luxury ocean liner's maiden voyage set in motion a series of events that
nobody will ever forget.
"LEASE ON LIFE," by writer CG Kirby (Freakshow) and illustrated by Ryan
Sergeant (Dreah), is the story of a man who gets a new lease on life
when zombies turn the world upside down; and he's not exactly sad to say
goodbye to his old life and past sins either!
"A three-year run for any book is tremendous in this market, but for a
[initially] black and white independent anthology to tough it out is
amazing," said Kirby. "DWP has given creators an outlet for their
projects and allowed them to showcase their talents. And now we've
graduated to color! DWP is truly the little book that could."
DIGITAL WEBBING PRESENTS #21 ships in early March, featuring 40
full-color pages for only $3.50. The comic can currently be
ordered/reordered through Diamond Comics' PREVIEWS catalog (item code:
OCT04 2622).
