Dark 48 #2 (of 2)
by Steven O’Connell, Daniel Indro, Joel Seguin
Always expect the unexpected. Anthem lives by that motto, especially since they seemed to have found a male unaffected by the virus. That means there possibly can be a cure. To get him out of there, Battle Corp Delta will have to run a gauntlet through the darkened hallways, always watching their backs for the crazies. The hospital with all its shadows resembles a haunted house. They’ve been trained well but some scenarios like this one couldn’t have been imagined. One thing is certain, some of them will survive to fight another day…and one of them will die.

The first issue of this two-part series from Digital Webbing sets a grim picture. It goes like this. Back in the 80’s, Russia was having a problem with Afghanistan. Russia created a virus that attacked the Y chromosome, effectively infecting male humans only, causing a rage-like zombie state. They determined that this would save Russian soldier’s lives and ammunition by causing the Afghans to attack each other. They never used it. A Russina general got wind of this virus and reported it. The Center for Disease Control in Atlanta, GA confiscated it. Enroute to the CDC, a terrorist group stole the virus, and let it loose on the population of the U.S. This brings us to our current story.

At first glance, the new comic “The Dark 48″ looks like a mish-mash of Danny Boyle’s “28 Days Later” (they’re not really zombies, more like humans infected with a “rage” virus) and your standard zombie movie, with a group of survivors battling a zombie horde infestation. The comic book premieres as a two-issue limited series by writer Steven O’Connell and artist Daniel Indro, and colors by Joel Seguin.

Dark 48 #1 – Chicks with guns for the win!
Review by Micheal P. Jessop

I’m waiting for the comic that explores a world where all females have been wiped out, leaving only males to cope in a society now bereft of nagging and tampon commercials. That’d be an interesting place to live, full of testosterone and fighting and boozing without anybody to answer to back home. Oh, wait. That place already exists, and it’s called Alaska. It’s no wonder, then, that stories about viruses deadly to the Y-Chromosome are so popular. Nobody wants to read about Alaska.

Previews_ad_JAN08.jpgThe new Diamond Previews catalog hit on October 24th. And like always, we have some goodies for you to check out.

DARK 48 #1 (of 2)
by Steven O’Connell, Daniel Indro, Joel Seguin
History will come to know it as DARK 48. It all started when a terrorist cell intercepted a designer Soviet plague – a virus genetically engineered to attack the Y Chromosome of males, inducing rage. In the ‘80s the Russians had hoped the Afghan rebels would turn on each other saving them lives and ammunition. Thankfully they never used it. An ex-Russian General brought it to the attention of the CDC. They confiscated it. The terror cell got wind of it and the rest is history. We follow an all-female strike team — Battle Corp Delta — whose mission is to traverse the contiguous lower 48 searching for survivors…and hopefully a cure. Written and created by original BloodRayne writer, Steven O’Connell.

BLOODRAYNE PRIME CUTS #1 (of 2)
by Chad Lambert, Chad Hardin, Jake Bilbao
Ever wonder what happened between the two groundbreaking BloodRayne video games? Prime Cuts offers two bloody tales that set the stage! First, the Cult of Kagan kidnaps a member of the Brimstone Society and guess who has to spring the trap? Next, a mysterious foe thought long-dead from the first game is back and he’s…robbing a convenience store?

Don’t forget to ask for Digital Webbing comics at your local comic shop! Digital Webbing is listed in the “D” section of “Comics”. There are tons of shops out there who do stock our books, it’s true! I hear from the owners directly! But for shops that don’t stock ‘em, ask for a title otherwise they won’t know you want your fix!
