Fist of Justice #2 – Switch-a-roo!

_FOJ_002_B.jpgPublishing comics is great. Wanna know why? Because every so often you can go crazy and go in a totally different direction. For example; Fist of Justice #2 was originally solicited with a Captain America homage cover. The cover was just too kick-ass for words. But, once Anthony found out we were introducing a female version of FOJ, he whipped this together.

And now with the economy the way it is, printing prices are on the rise, even variant covers. Our order totals for Fist of Justice #2 were a little less than we’d like them to be so we opted to just stick with one cover. The clear winner is the one over on the right because it reflects the story more than the homage one (which originally was slated as a variant for #1).

Hang on, this part will make Mickey Imby happy… the homage cover will be reserved for the FOJ trade paperback collection at some point in time. But first we need to unload all these single issue copies we have. :-)

Fist of Justice #2 should hit comic shops on June 11th. Grab one because it’s gonna be rare!

Tokyo Rogue #3 / Cover A

Digital Webbing | BloodRayne, Sneak Peek 1 Comment »

BRTOKROG03_FC_A.jpgJust like promised, here’s the Scott Clark cover for Tokyo Rogue #3. Inked by Andrew Mangum and colored by Juan Fernandez. Is this hot or what?

Incidentally,  the team that worked on this cover will also be the same team on the Ayano one-shot, a BloodRayne spin-off title. Scott has been turning in pages while Andrew has been inking away. We’re targeting a October/November release. Painter Michael DiPascale (BloodRayne incentive covers) turned in a variant cover which I’ll post up soon. And our buddy Alp Altiner (Team 14) is working on a sweet piece as well.

Look for BloodRayne: Tokyo Rogue #3 in comic shops this September. #1 hit comics shops last Wednesday, hope you grabbed a copy!

Demon’s Regret #1 Review @ Comics Bulletin

They say you can’t judge a book by its cover; apparently that is not entirely true. Demon’s Regret is an excellent book, however I must admit that the cover left me wondering what I would find inside. The cover style did not catch my interest, but after reading the book its inner meaning speaks to me, which is a really positive achievement for Michael Golden.

BloodRayne: Tokyo Rogue #1 – That cover is pretty muddled [cover A shown by Don Walker], which fits well with the story.

Tokyo Rogue #1 Review @ Friendly Neighborhood Komics

You know, for someone who has an innate fear of anything that mews, I read way too many horror comics. Bloodrayne is one of them, focusing on a half-human half-vampire (AKA dhampir) and her adventures working for the Brimstone Society.

BloodRayne by Dan Panosian

BRTOKROG03_FC_B.jpgDan Panosian sure is a great artist. And he’s coming back to comics and we hope to have him pumping out more and more BloodRayne and Ayano covers for us in the future.

Here’s a sneak peek at “Cover B” of Tokyo Rogue #3. We’ll show off the other cover on Friday by Scott Clark (which you’re gonna love just as much).

Look for BloodRayne: Tokyo Rogue #3 in comic shops this September, issue #1 hit stores on May 14th, hope you grabbed a copy!

Very read, very cool.

cover_old2.jpgHere’s an unused version of a DWP cover featuring Fist of Justice. Our buddy Ryan Scott is a master of Photoshop filters (as you may remember since he colored the stories in DWP #29 and #30).

Ultimately, we choose not to use this as our final cover for various reasons, but thought you’d get a kick out of seeing what could have been.

And who knows, in like 50 years, there might actually be a copy that looks identical to this floating around in the back-issue market. Heh.

35 Issues

Digital Webbing | DWP No Comments »

One of the things I never got a chance to quite finish was the Digital Webbing Presents store page. Well, I can write that off my to-do list. All 35 issues are posted. Looking at the page sure does bring back memories because it was a solid 6 years. Without Digital Webbing Presents, we probably wouldn’t be seeing BloodRayne, Fist of Justice, Team 14 and the many other titles planned.

Through DWP’s 6 year history, we’ve seen some major pros contribute; Michael Moorcock, Eric Powell, Scott Morse, Steve Niles, Bernie Wrightson, Jay Faerber, Brian Miller, Nick Bradshaw, Chris Eliopoulis, Anthony Castrillo, and Bill Pressing to name a few.

We’ve also showcased some of the newest talent who are now making names for themselves; Kody Chamberlain, Scottie Young, Greg Scott, Jon Sommariva, Jon Malin, Mahmud Asrar, Yildiray Cinar, Chad Hardin, Ben Hunzeker, Dustin Yee, Mitchell Breitweiser, JK Woodward, and the list grows with each passing day.

A while back DWP contributor Ian Ascher told me his local comic shop guy considered DWP to be the  equivalent of the “rookie card” for the comics industry. That’s a pretty huge compliment. Thanks for a great 6 years!
