BR003_03.jpgPrime Cuts #1 hits on February 27th with #2 already at the printer. So Prime Cuts #3 will be here in no time. We’re targeting an August release and have already begun work on Prime Cuts #4 (with the return of Steve Scott, artist from BloodRayne Twin Blades, working on a short story to match his cover).

Here’s a peek at a great, new BloodRayne artist who we hope to keep around for a long while. If not on BloodRayne, definitely something new we have planned by year’s end. Oscar Bazaldua is sure to build a huge following as more of his work is seen by comic book fans.

While Vampirella has been a mainstay and an icon in the comics industry for decades, Sword of Dracula is a newer property, having been published by Image and IDW before landing at Digital Webbing. I’m not sure if I’ve read any SoD comics before, and I certain didn’t recognize much here. The good news is that this is an accessible introduction to the concept, which is sort of like Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Mission Impossible. The better news is that SoD creators Jason Henderson and Greg Scott handle Vampirella incredibly well. She’s not depicted as a blood-sucking sexpot heroine in this story; instead, she’s a rogue agent in a supernatural underworld of crime, commerce and curses.

Dark 48 #1 Review @ Red Can Comics

The first issue of this two-part series from Digital Webbing sets a grim picture. It goes like this. Back in the 80’s, Russia was having a problem with Afghanistan. Russia created a virus that attacked the Y chromosome, effectively infecting male humans only, causing a rage-like zombie state. They determined that this would save Russian soldier’s lives and ammunition by causing the Afghans to attack each other. They never used it. A Russina general got wind of this virus and reported it. The Center for Disease Control in Atlanta, GA confiscated it. Enroute to the CDC, a terrorist group stole the virus, and let it loose on the population of the U.S. This brings us to our current story.

Collaboration on comic makes for great read
Sunday, February 17, 2008

Most of the time when two comic book companies cross over their characters the result is a forgettable cliche. The two heroes fight each other over mistaken identities then realize the error and team up to take on the real bad guy.

“Sword of Dracula/ Vampirella” is a rare exception to that.

It shouldn’t work but is does.

Published by Digital Webbing, “Sword of Dracula/Vampirella” is a good-looking book that is a great read.
